2. The purpose of a music poster:
A music poster is an advert for the album to promote it so that it would persuade
people to purchase the album. In order to have a successful album poster it
must incorporate a similar colour scheme to the digipak so that they compliment
each other and the album will be recognised through the poster.
3. Typography:
One of the key features to album posters is the typography. The font that is used
must cohere with the style of the digipak and the music video so that the trio
look good together and complement one another. This enables the audience to
associate the products with each other.
Artist name:
One of the most important features of music poster is the artist’s name. This is
because the name they use is how they advertise themselves to their audience
and how they are recognised by their audience. Publicity will be expanded through
the inclusion of the artist’s name as it will become more and more recognisable.
4. Album art:
Although it is not essential for an album to have a cover, it would be extremely
difficult to make the album stand out so that the audience would recognise it in
shops and online which means they would only be able to recognise it through the
artist’s name and the album name. The album cover would reinforce the quality of
the album if done well. The album and poster must share the same colour scheme
otherwise the audience would get confused
Language:
Album posters conventionally consist of short, coherent sentences that explain the
most important information about the album it is advertising. For example; the
release date of the album, tour dates, and any further information required for the
release or pre order. This supplies the poster with an element of urgency to go
encourage the audience to go out and purchase the album before it sells out.
