11. Reading
• Please read with your child each
evening and ensure you sign their
Reading Record.
• We will not be hearing your child
read individually each week but they
will be doing Guided Reading.
12. Grammar
• Instead of phonics, the children will
have daily grammar lessons.
• Your children will be taking a
standardised spelling and punctuation
assessment at the end of year 2.
• We will provide further information
about SATs nearer the time.
13. Values
• Values are very important to support
the children with their learning.
• We will be working on a certain Value
over a two week period in order to
give the children the skills they need
for everyday life.
14. What you can do to help!
• Read daily with your child.
• Ensure your child completes the
homework themselves and in PENCIL.
• Practise spellings for their Friday
test.
• Continue to raise maths language and
general maths awareness through
every day activities.
15. Reminders!
• Please label all school uniform,
including shoes, trainers, water
bottles etc.
• Please ensure PE kit is in school every
day.
• Please ensure water bottles are
provided.
