To Whom It May Concern:
It is with great pleasure that I write on behalf of Chalice Davis. She has truly
been a great asset to our school. From Fall 2014 until Summer 2015, she has
worked diligently as a Head Room Teacher for the first grade and an ESL teacher for
Saturday classes.
Chalice first came to the school as a teaching assistant for the Kindergarten
class. She aided not only the ESL students, but also the native speakers. She
helped develop their reading and writing skills through visual mediums, and
suggestions of kinesthetic activities. As her ability to communicate with the students
effectively became more apparent, I could see that the first grade homeroom teacher
position could be filled.
Whilst taking on the difficult class of primarily ESL students, she applied her
knowledge of the American Common Core Curriculum and Singapore Math
concepts. Diligently she helped the students to broaden their social landscape
through practical methods of English instruction and Math manipulatives.
During the second term she requested to have drama as an after school
activity. The students enjoyed the activity so much that it continued on to the third
semester and finally became the roots of the school play. The school play was
challenging but, Chalice rose above it. The results were more than what I had
expected.
The most impressive aspect of Chalice is her work ethic. She was able to
keep up with the demands of a head room teacher; while juggling the complications
of a school production; and providing the educational needs of students in the
Saturday classes .
Needless to say, she has been a great member of our staff. Should you need
any further information please feel free to contact me.
