2. H O M E W O R K â¨
It has been pleasing to see the quality of Homework being submitted each fortnight by students. We love sharing
the childrenâs efforts in class and occasionally we have time at our team assemblies. Please continue to encourage
your child to complete their homework.
Our homework expectations are:
â SPELLING - Each week, the student will have a new spelling list of a minimum of 10 words. These
need to be practised each night.
â MATHS â 1000 points or more each week on Mathletics. Teachers will check this on Friday morning.
â READING - Read for 20 minutes each weeknight. Students may choose from a variety of reading
material e.g. comic book, magazine, website etc.
â HOW MUCH TO DO? All students will complete all the above plus one activity per week selected from
the grid. Year 4 students may do one activity per fortnight.
Teachers expect students to do the same quality of work at home as is expected at school. Work should follow
our Book Standards, which will also be glued into the studentâs Homework book.
eLearning students turn their Homework in online. Please check their Homework Guidelines if you are unsure.
These have been sent home and can be found on their Wikispace.
Our main inquiry topic of âThrough the Decadesâ, has continued in Term 2, morphing into
Technology, as students begin to use the knowledge learned about their classâ chosen
decade to design and construct a piece of wearable art, to reďŹect the decade. When
working with Mr Fowler, students will be learning skills that will help them construct their
art, so it holds together well for performance and display.
In the ďŹrst 3 weeks of term, students will be assessed as teachers prepare to write the mid-
year report. Students are being assessed in areas of Literacy and Maths.
In Maths, students will be learning about Geometry, in particular, position and orientation.
This relates to reading maps, co-ordinates, directions etc. Last term in writing, students were
exposed to a variety of genre and learned a variety of skills, such as planning, language
devices, sentence structure, proof reading and editing. This term students have a focus of
âWriting to Entertainâ, which is to write narrative and poetry.
What are we learning this term?
