• The Baduy community in
Banten is an utterly unique and
closed society.
• The Baduy is a tribe of between
2,000 and 4,000 Sundanese
speaking people living in 27
villages in the mountains south
of Rangkasbitung.
• The Baduy are divided into two
sub-groups; the Baduy Dalam
(Inner Baduy), and the Baduy
Luar (Outer Baduy).
• The origin of the word Baduy
may come from the term
"Bedouin", although other
sources claim the source is a
name of a local river

8. Clean water facility – Communal toilet project
“Project to support the humanity of Baduy people by providing aid it the form of facility which is
donated by Anzaki-san in total of Rp. 200.000,000,- in 2013”
10. Clean water Facility
Overview
Outer-Baduy that consist of 22 villages including Kompol village have issue
regarding on clean water. The people must walk for a distance to get access to
clean water. During dry-season it is more difficult to get water, most of the
crops that are daily routine as traditional farmer are at stake. It is why, YKIP
support through the program of humanity aid on providing clean water for
the Baduy community.
Kompol village consist of 30 families that are urge of clean water to support
their house-hold and daily activities.

12. Communal Toilet
Overview
The project continue afterwards in May 2014 by providing communal toilet
for the Baduy Kompol. It is common that previously that villagers back in the
90’s doesn’t concern about the health and hygiene. Nowadays more and
more Outer-Baduy are open to modernization including usage of toilet.
The idea of “communal toilet” came up at the second assessment to Baduy,
when by sight no toilet can be found elsewhere in the territory or even their
houses. Even though clean water was provided, the villagers still needs to go
to nearby water access to bath and washing their clothes
