due to domestic garbage
Our story of Change from
Satya Bharti School, Dausod, Alwar,
Rajasthan,
Bharti Foundation
The change we plan to bring about in the
community:
A pollution free environment having clean
drains, blockage free roads have been targeted
by our kids. People were motivated to use the
domestic garbage only in the compost rather
putting it on the road,
2. Introduction
• Bharti Foundation
– Bharti Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Bharti Group Companies.
– The Foundation aims to help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize
their potential.
• Satya Bharti School Program
– The Satya Bharti School Program is the flagship program of Bharti Foundation.
– It aims to deliver free quality education to underprivileged children, with special focus on the girl
child across rural India.
– The program goal is to establish 500 Primary and 50 Senior Schools reaching out to over 200,000
students
– The promise of this large scale program, through its operation, is to create a replicable, scalable
and holistic model of quality education in rural India
– Present Operational Status:
• Number of Schools Operational: 256
• States of Operation: Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh &
Tamil Nadu & west Bengal
• Number of Students Enrolled: Over 38,000
3. About the Community
• Geographical Location:
– Dosod is situated approx. 12 km from NH-8 and District office of Bharti
Foundation.
– Sr. Sec. School is in village it.
– There is no public transportation facility so that people have to walk or travel
by own conveyance from the main bus station Majri ,which is approx. 6 km
from the village.
– The Government Primary Health Centre is in village it self.
– The nearest Police station is Behror which is approx. 11 km form the village.
– The nearest market is Majri which is approx. 6 km form the village
– Drinking water facility provided by government and constructed water supply
tank, apart from this Hand pumps and bore wells are other source of water.
– The main occupation of villagers are agriculture, mining & Private Jobs.
– Total no. of House Hold – 483
– Total no. of Population - 2100
4. •About the Community
Cultural Background:
– The villagers belongs to Hindu Community .
– Dominant cast is Rajuput.
– They followed the all Hindu rituals and festivals
– The dressing style of community is long white Kurta & Dhoti / Pant &
Shirt, for men and women dressing style is Ghagra & Odhni.
– It’s a mix culture of Rajasthan & Hariyana because Hariyana is very close
to this location.
– They are the followers of all Hindu God & Goddess.
– They prefer to have vegetarian & Non vegetarian food but most of the
people are vegetarian.
– Village women always in long veil and it’s a part of their culture.
5. We ‘Felt’:
• Domestic garbage and used
water are thrown on to the roads • Environment like this are not
which results blocked drains, favorable for growing children in
water jams on the road and terms of their mental and
pollution with a dissatisfied physical health..

6. We ‘Imagined’:
• Domestic garbage shall be treated properly through
dust bins and ultimately to a compost rather than
throwing it directly to the road.
• Water should be utilized in useful manner and the
wastage water should be drained properly.
• Drain should be cleaned and blockages should be
removed.
7. We ‘Did’:
• Rally across the community
• Community meetings.
• Awareness through Nukad natak,
Motivational songs, slogans and posters.
• Signature campaign and oath taking
ceremony was conducted to keep the drains
and roads clean out of the domestic garbage.
8. We ‘Did’:
• Initiative taken to clean the drains
by students and teachers own self..

• Initiate ‘Sramdan’ activity by involving
community people to clean the drain, roads and
public places.
9. Impact on Community:
• A group movement to clean the public places and
common road of the village to make it free of water
jams and blockages.
• Village drain had been cleared with the efforts of the
villagers without waiting for any Panchayat’s
initiatives.
10. Impact on Community:
• Village women have
promised to reutilize the
garbage's through compost
without throwing directly to
the road and other places.
• A signature campaign and oath
taking ceremony was done to
promise for proper utilization of
water and other natural resources.
11. Impact on Us:
• A great satisfaction to
work for my own
village.
• We are happy to walk
on the clean roads of
our village.
• We promise to keep our
village neat and clean
forever..
12. Experience of Community Members & Teachers:
• Community members:
- ”Gaon main ganda paani, kichad ke karan gaon main ane
walo ke man main gaon ke prati galat bhawana paida hota hai.
Malaria aur diaria jaise anek bimariya bhi ishi bajaha se paida hota
hai. Ye aaj hame bhalibhati samaj main aagayi”.
