2. Masthead
This Masthead shows the tittle
of the magazine. Like other
magazines they have made the
tittle very big and have put the
‘first letter’ in a fancy type
writing.
The main image
The main image of this magazine is
of someone middle aged which is
what the magazines target
audience is. He is wearing clothes
that symbolise the season that it
might be which is: Autumn/Winter.
The background of the magazine
looks as if its somewhere that the
target audience would be at i.e. a
place that most people who were
middle aged would go to. The
background is burry which focuses
all the attention of the person.
Left Third
This is the left third and usually
there are the main cover lines on
this side of the magazine but for
this magazine there doesn’t seem
to be many cover lines
Front Cover
Header
This Header tells you in a line the
important information you need to
know about the magazine that you
maybe interested in.
Puff
The puff is like a coloured
block that helps sell the
magazine as it’s very bold. It
often has writing on it which is
relevant about the magazine
Text
The text on this front cover of the
music magazine is all in white apart
from the subheadings which are in
different colours so they can stand
out from the rest of the writing to tell
the audience the other information
that is included in the magazine.
Barcode
The Barcode is usually at the bottom
of the page so its out of the way and
it is easy for places that magazines
get sold at that they can be scanned.
3. Audiences
• The target audience for the classical music
magazine would be middle ages people
• They help to attract there audience by making
sure all the information and images are
relevant to the genre of this magazine so they
can relate to it and also that the colour
scheme isn’t too bright or too dark and fits in
with the target audience perfectly.
4. Text
The text that is used in this
magazine is all at a consistent size
depending how important the
information is e.g. The title is in the
biggest font size, then the
subheading is a few sizes smaller
than that and the information that
isn’t as important is a few sizes
smaller than the
Subheadings
These are subheadings that
put everything you want to
find into sections to narrow it
down so its easier for the
consumer to find what they
need to find. It saves time to
what you what to find to read
rather than having to flick
through all the pages of the
magazine to find what you are
looking for
Page numbers
There are also page
numbers which makes it
much more easier for you to
find what you’re looking for
in what you want to find in
the magazine.
Contents
Dateline
The date is also written on
the contents page so
consumers know they have
the right issue of the
magazine. It also helps them
know that they have bought
a new issue and not an old
one that is outdated and
has invalid content in that
they weren’t looking for
Main image
The main image for this
magazine is simple and laid
back just like the type of
music it informs the audience
about. It has a women on it
that looks about in her 20’s
which shows that music
magazines can be aimed at
younger ages as well as most
people stereotype classical
music to do with middle aged
people. But as there is a fairly
young girl on the ‘Contents’ it
suggests that these sort of
genre can appeal to any age
including the younger
generation.
5. Double Page Spread
Sub – Heading
The subheading of this double page spread is in white writing so it stands out from the black background. It’s not
a big font size but the size of writing used on this double page spread still can be seen clearly. This subheading
tells the consumer about the type of genre she does and what the double page spread is roughly going to be
about.
Title
The title of this double
page spread is
‘Jamelia’ which is the
artist on this double
page spreads name.
The writing is in a big
font size with a white
outline on top of a
picture of Jamelia and
is filled in with the
background of the
image. It can be seen
clearly and shows that
this double page
spread will be all about
Jamelia and nobody
else.
Main Image
There are images on both
pages of this double page
spread. The first image
consumes half the page and
is behind the title of this
double page spread and is in
very dark colours and the
second image is the whole
page and has no colour
effect on. The artist Jamelia
is wearing white clothes
which makes her stand out
from the double page spread
as the majority of the
background of it is in black.
This focuses all the attention
on Jamelia which makes her
the centre of attention in this
double page spread and
hopefully won’t lose the eye
of the audience as the colour
white makes her standout. It
also gives us a suggestion of
her personality, it implies
that she is a calm and
tranquil person who is very
warm hearted.
Text
The text on this double page spread is in 3 different font sizes. The biggest font size if the title, the medium font
size is the subheading and the smallest font size is the rest of the text which tells us information on the artist.
The questions that the artist is getting asked is in orange and the answers she gives is in white. This shows the
contrast between the two so you can tell the difference between the interviewer and the artist. The writing is
fairly small and some people may struggle to read it if they are long sighted.
6. Three elements that help the different parts of
the magazine connect are how relaxed and laid
back the colour schemes are. Also the images
match the genre which is classical, the main
images are of classical singers who are in the
same age range as the target audience roughly.
Another element would be how much writing
there is, as there isn’t much writing which
makes the magazine look very formal.
7. Background information
There isn’t a period of time of when these sorts
of magazines came out but they have been
around for quite a while. They are well known
around the world and its become part of a
tradition that you should be selling products
such as musical magazines.
