Descriptionfor an Aircraft Simulator
An aircraft (flight) simulatoris the equipment that artificiallyre-makes flight environment
for pilot training, controllingof, and reactingto factors includingair intensity, turbulence,
and cloud. There are many types of simulators suchas Commercial Air Transport (CAT), a
Full Flight Simulator (FFS), and Full MissionSimulator (FMS) (Wikipedia).
A Significance ofanAircraft Simulator
According to NASA Dryden Flight Research, an aircraft simulator is usuallyused for flight
attendants “training to improve flight safetyand operations”(Shy, Hageman, and Le). As
flight attendants need to take various stages of training test, theycan completelybe used to
emergencysituations inreal-time.
A History onJazz Airlines / MyOpinion
Jazz was a newly-mergedby the four regional airline brands which are AirBC, Air Nova, Air
Ontario, and Canadian Regional. It was completedin2002 (flyjazz). Inmy opinion, the
reasonthat Jazz is set apart from other airlines is it canoffer more programs and benefits to
customers thanother airlines offer. Most of all, many employees shouldbe forcedto have a
responsibilityof making safetyone of the toppriorities andrespect diversityof customers.
- A Route of Toronto
As for ‘YYZ’ (Toronto PearsonInternational Airport) route, the Toronto Harbour

standard wood frame building was built in 1938. The third terminal was also built to the west
side of wood building in 1949 and it was renamed‘Toronto International Airport. However,
the thirdterminal was demolishedinthe 1960s andthe original terminal 1 was build south of

the original building between 1957 and 1964. The terminal 2 was opened in 1972 and was
renamed Lester B. PearsonInternational Airport in 1984. Finally, the third terminal was

- In-Flight Services
There are four types of services inflight. First, there are many ‘Passenger Services’such
as check-in, gates, ticketing, lobby management, lounge management, customer assistance
with self-serve product and irregular operations, special needs handling, and bagging
services accordingto “Ground-Handling” service.
Second, Jazz offers many ‘Training Programs’suchas maintenance programs and some
safetycourses to developthe ability to keepsafety. Jazz also gives technical trainingwhich is
for teambuilding, conflict to cooperation, andleadership.

Third, there are some ‘Operational Programs’such as dispatching training, payload
planning, commercial operations, and departure control.
Fourth, it also offers ‘Consultancyservices’to assist operatorsof aircraft includingfuel
efficiency(flyjazz).
Why Flight Attendant Graduates PreferWorking for Jazz?
SenecaCollege is a partner with Jazz airlines, so many graduates including first year students
can have an opportunityto go on a fieldtripfor Jazz simulator. There are some employees
comingfrom Jazz training graduates, so students can work as an internshipfor 150 hours in
the last semester. Moreover, especiallySenecaopens the ‘Career Expo’ per year to give
graduates a chance to talk to Jazz employees and learn from them (senecac.ca).
Descriptionfor Three Pointsthat I Learnedfrom Jazz Simulator
First, I learned that SenecaCollege has given flight students a lot of informationabout
airlines. WhenI majoredin accountingand finance for the previous semester, Iused to think
that it is very hard to be flight attendant. However, as I went on a fieldtripfor Jazz simulator,
I may be confident of preparingfor being a flight attendant. It can be an interesting
opportunityfor me to give services to passengers inflight.
Second, this fieldtripalready made me expect to have a training educationwhich may be
for the fourthsemester. Especially, it was very impressive to put safetytraining down to
experience from employees. Icould have a chance not onlyto learnfrom class, but also to
have a new experience for Jazztrip.
Finally, I also learned that it is necessarythat flight attendants shouldcooperate witheach
other in every situation. One of employees saidthat they usually set two parts; one is to be a

leader and the other is to be a teammate in flight. I realizedthat I need to participate actively
especiallywhenever I have a groupwork.
