A masthead is usually a bold heading used to gain the interest of the audience and in this case
the masthead is the name of the magazine which will also appear on the front cover, this has
been done so that the audience can recognise the magazine name. The colour of this title is
white which is contrasting on a black background, this has been done as a symbolic
representation of their genre of music which is it standing out to it’s surroundings. This
particular masthead uses a font that links with the genre of the magazine as it is bold and is in
block capitals to attract attention.
A colour scheme is used to create a neat layout for the page. The colour scheme of this
magazine is mainly black, blue and white. Using these colours links perfectly to the genre of the
magazine. The reason these colours have been used is that they all stand out when used
together. These colours have connotations of mystery, understanding and purity.
A main image will be of a band/artist and it is used to gain the audience's attention, this is also
to show the audience who the double page spread in the magazine will be focused on. This
image is a medium close up to show the audience more of this particular artist, The artist is
directly addressing the audience as he is looking directly into the camera and he also has the
dress code and appearance that links to the genre of the magazine and the colour scheme used.
A column layout is used to provide a simple and direct way of showing information. Each bit of
information is numbered and they go in order as they go down, each number also has cover
lines and sublines to show you other topics that will be covered within the magazine and begins
to describe what will be said in the full article.
A pull quote has been used by the artist to create more of a personal aspect within the
magazine, this is done to give the audience an idea of what the artist is like so they know what
to expect from the article. This is also done to intrigue the reader into finding out more, what
this quote links too and why it has been said.

3. The colour scheme is used to create a neat layout and a clear design of the
magazine, the colours used on this magazine are black, yellow, red and
white. These colours have been used as they link to the genre of music
within the magazine, these colours have connotations of mystery,caution,
passion and purity.
There are a variety of different images that have been used on this contents
page that all link to the topic of different bands and gigs. The main image
that has been used is an action shot of a band member crowd surfing at a
gig, the other images that have been used are linked to the different
headings used on the contents page.
Sublines are used to introduce the topic/category to the target audience, all
of these are presented in block capitals and bold font. This is done so they
stand out to the other text used, this is also done to show the audience that
the content included has been sectioned into different categories. This allows
the audience to have an easy understanding of where the information is that
they desire.
Issue number and date is provided at the top of the page so that it is clear to
see, this is done so that readers can keep track on the latest issues of the
magazine and are aware of when the next one will be available.
Banners are used to highlight important information on the page, this is
done so that the audience can see where the main information can be found.
These banners are used on the subheadings to show the audience the
different categories of information that are available, this has also been done

also uses white bold block writing on a red banner showing a clear colour
scheme for this particular magazine.
A subheading is used to introduce the different topics within the regular
content section. This has been presented in a block capital, bold, black layout
contrasting with the white background, this has been done so the text can be
seen clearly and stands out on the page and to other text used.
A column layout is used to give a clear layout of different information, this has
been done to show the audience where the information is located and so the
audience have a clear understanding of the information provided. Each piece of
information that is used is numbered and also includes a cover line and sublines
to give the audience a brief overview of what will be included within each topic.
The images used are linked to the subheadings to show a brief layout of what
the page will look like. The main image that has been used is a long shot of the
lead singer of foo fighters, this has been done to show the audience who the
