Work schedule is defined as, "The number of daily hours,
weekly hours, and annual weeks that employees in an
occupation are scheduled and do work."

7. Standard Business Schedule: where employees work set days (usually Monday through Friday) and
set hours (usually 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). This is often referred to as a “9-to-5 work schedule.”
Fixed Work Schedule: Employees work the same amount of hours in fewer days when compared
to the standard “9-to-5” model.
e.g.: Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or Thursday-Sunday 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
Flexible Work Schedule: Flex time allows employees to begin and end work at nonstandard times
within limits set depending on the employer’s policy ,i.e. starting and ending times will be
different, but keep the same schedule each day
e.g.: Monday‐Friday, (9:30AM‐6:00PM or 7:00 AM ‐3:30PM).

8. Rotating Shift Work Schedule: Rotating work schedules cycle employees
through day, swing, and night shifts.
Helps business to stays open around the clock (24 hours)
Day Or First shift (e.g., 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.),
Swing Or Second shift (e.g., 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.)
Night Or Third shift(e.g., 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.).
Part-Time Work Schedule: A part-time work schedule is any schedule less
than full-time employment. this type of schedule allows greater flexibility to
maintain other responsibilities outside of work.
Types of Work Schedules:
9. Split work schedule: Working more than once a day. This may be done due to business
needs or at the preference of the employee.
e.g., a Car or Bus driver may work 8AM to 10AM and 3PM to 5PM each day
Seasonal: A seasonal work schedule is in effect for only a few months out of the year.
Typical seasonal work schedule types include holiday (November through December)
and summer (June, July, and August).
On-call: An on-call schedule is one where the employee is available to work any time,
day or night, as the employer demands.
Overtime: working more than the standard full-time hours each week and Wages for
overtime work are usually higher.
