travellers, with a sole focus on the supply side of tourism, by
providing compelling experiences, quality infrastructure, and

4. Alternative tourism is a ‘forms of tourism that set out to be consistent with natural,
social and community values and which allow both hosts and guests to enjoy positive and
worthwhile interaction and shared experiences’
It involves traveling to relatively remote, undisturbed natural areas with the objective of
admiring, studying and enjoying the scenery and its wild plants and animals and cultural
attributes.
It considers the conservation of the environment and well-being of local people.

outdoors and adventure including Biking, Horseback Riding, Skiing, Snow
Shoeing, Rafting, Diving, Caving And Hiking.

styles of truly exotic people.
Activities include visits to native home, attending traditional ceremonies and dances, and

combined with planning goals, charts a course of action for sound decision-
making.
• Aims at improving the quality of the environment of these destinations as
well as working towards increasing the tourist inflow to these attractions.

13. Improvement of the surroundings of the destination. This would include activities like
landscaping, development of parks, fencing, compound wall etc.
Illumination of Tourist destination and the area around, S&L Shows etc.
Improvement in solid waste management and sewerage management.
Construction of budget accommodation, wayside amenities.
Procurement of equipment directly related to tourism, like water sports, adventure
sports, eco-friendly modes of transport for moving within the tourism zone.

16. TANZANIA The United Republic of Tanzania is the 2nd largest
country in the SADC Region and the 1st biggest in East
Africa.
It lies in the east coast of Africa.
It covers 945,234 Sq.km comprising Mainland and the

Tanzania is an exceptionally beautiful and interesting
country, With its 12 National parks, 31 Game reserves,
38 Game controlled areas, a Conservation area and
Marine park.

and rock painting sites, a number of which have been
designated to World Heritage Sites.

In collaboration with the government of Japan, the Government is currently constructing
tarmac roads.
In the case of air transport, there is an improvement in international air accessibility.
Currently there are about 17 international scheduled airlines coming to Tanzania.

Promote the image of Tanzania and position it as a leading destination for wildlife
viewing and hunting expeditions.
