• 1970- nine month old boy ( The republic of congo)
• 11 African countries
• Nigeria – 500 suspected, 200 confirmed, fatality-3%
• USA- infected pet prairie dogs imported from Ghana (70 cases)
• Nigeria to Israel/UK/Sigapore/USA(travellers)

4. Transmission
• Zoonotic( animal to human)
• Human to human
• Risk factor- 1. inadequately cooked meat
2. animal products of infected animals
