2. Process
To start off my production I looked at designing potential logos I had several initial ideas I
was looking for either the KNOWEAR logo in a certain font or a shortened version of this a
KW that could make a smaller logo for polo designs etc. I looked at several ways of
manipulating the logo but decided the word Knowear on its own would do as the products
I was releasing were larger and I decided I would use bigger logos and designs. I used
Photoshop to design these and to begin with put a lot of effort in to designing using
different shapes used overlayed in different ways and colours. I used this method in several
designs and tried to connect the texts and shapes to make a usable logo however decided
they would be too big to use as a basic logo and so looked in to ways of using just font as
seen on the bottom left.
3. Process
The next part of the process was T-shirt design. This was a very important step that
took up the majority of time during the project. I found settling on fonts and designs
very difficult I think this I due to the fact that the t-shirts were to be printed. I spent
my own money getting these tees done in real life and so was very hesitant to
commit to a design. My initial research had told me that simple products and large
back designs were effective so I aimed to combine this over a selection of products. I
used Photoshop to create the designs and although some of the tools such as the
quick selection did not work the way I wanted them too I found the majority of
design tools fairly easy and cropping, design and filling worked the way I wanted to. I
also struggled to save files to the in browser t shirt design software but eventually by
saving as a png file I managed to get the designs together. The biggest struggle for
me was actually coming up with the design ideas.
4. Process
After the t-shirts arrived I then could begin shooting and filming for my products, I had
the idea of using Brimham rocks as the location to do this. The only issue with this
location was the distance it is to get too therefore we had to do all of the camera work
within a 3 hour window. I felt the shooting went well and we got a lot of cool images in
style with the type of photos my researched companies use. I initially struggled with the
camera’s settings but as I had used it in previous projects quickly worked them out and
actually got some good images to use. The real issue was filming as although at the time
we thought we got some good shots when I got to the editing stage I realized I didn't
have enough footage.
5. Process
The next stage for me was editing my clips and and images. To edit my photos I
used light room for the first time. I found the software a lot easier to use than
Photoshop for editing my images, the layout of the software was very simple and
a found the process to be very quick and easy. I then went on to premiere to edit
my promo vid together. I found this easy to do but was lacking enough footage I
managed to get a short video together and found a royalty free instrumental
version of fake love by drake. I then added effects and text to the end of the
video. I thought overall the video looked and played well. The music fitted in
time with the footage and video gave off the image I was wanting to show. In
light room I mainly changed light and detailing effects such as the sharpness.
6. Process
The final stage of my production was my website design. I decided to use wix as
my website creator as I have used wix previously and have found it effective and
usable to design websites. To begin with I looked at the home page I used a slider
in style with my researched sites I felt that this was a good way to capture the
viewers attention to my product straight away. I then created links using buttons
to the areas of my sites, and added some images and the video to the page. After
this a created a look book and wrote a small about section saying a few words
about the company. Creating the look book was fairly simple I chose a design that
I thought would be easy to navigate and that would show off the images
effectively. The final page I had to make was the product page. I made the listings
and all the products work and can be added to a basket. I then finally uploaded
my product images to listings. For my colours on my website I chose to keep
simple backing colours to make my images pop more. I felt as if the website was
done well for a small starting business.
