This ppt about the blended fuel vehicles. We are going to blend one of the biofuel ethanol which renewable energy source with petrol for using on petrol engine.
2. Ethanol has been known as a fuel for many
decades.
How ever it is not widely used because of its high
price.
Ethanol has some advantages over gasoline, such as
better anti-knock characteristics and the reduction of CO.
3. Although having these advantages, due to limitation
in technology and economic, alcohol fuel still cannot be
used extensively.
Using ethanol blended with gasoline is better than
pure gasoline because of its renewability and less toxicity.
4.
5.
6. Ethanol (C2H5OH) is a pure substance. And
gasoline is composed of C4-C12 hydrocarbons.
Ethanol contains an oxygen atom so it viewed as a
partially oxidized hydrocarbons.
Ethanol is completely miscible with water in all
proportions, while the gasoline and water are immiscible.
7. Ethanol fuel has high octane rating and therefore it is
considered efficient in terms of performance.
The combination of 15% gasoline and 85% ethanol
is really helpful in starting engine in cold weather.
8. All gasoline vehicles in use in the U.S. today can
accept gasoline blended with up to 10% of
ethanol(GASOHOL)
Flexible fuel vehicles are cars and trucks that can
use any level of ethanol up to 85%.
9. Produced renewably from agricultural crops or from
recylced wates.
Used as motor fuel offers a way to reduce greenhouse
gas emission from transportation sources.
10. Ethanol is used along or along with gasoline
concentrations to improve the working of engine.
Hence many types of ethanol like E85 containing 85%
ethanol and 15% natural gas is a growing market today.
E85 is produced in mid western Europe expecially where
there is abundance of corn crop.
11. The automotive industry can be an important industry of
any country. However it facing crisis since the fuel prices.
The ethanol car engines are really environment friendly.
In order to reduce the burden of foreign oil from
economy it is important that we switch to ethanol cars.
12.
13. In this study, we found that using ethanol-gasoline
blend, CO emission may be reduced by 10-30%.
While CO2 emission increases by 5-10%
depending on engine condition.
The engine power and specific fuel consumption
increase approximately by 5% and 2-3% respectively.
