This document discusses sentence patterns. It defines a sentence as a group of words that convey a complete thought or meaning. A sentence pattern refers to the arrangement and structure of words in a grammatically correct sentence. There are four basic types of sentence patterns: simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex. The document also identifies the essential elements of a sentence pattern, including the subject, verb, object, complement, and adjunct. It provides examples of basic sentence patterns using these elements, such as subject-verb, subject-verb-complement, and subject-verb-object patterns.
