2. “MINORITY”
The word minority has not been defined in
constitution of India, but some of the following
articles given refer to the word minority:
Article 29 { protection of interests of minority}
Article 30{ Right to establish and administrate
educational institutions }
Article 350 A {education in mother tongue in the
case of linguistic minority}
Article 350 B { special officer for linguistic minority}
5. Grounds of consideration
Compactly or dispersedly settled on the territory of a
state;
Which is smaller in number than the rest of the
population of a state;
Whose members are citizens of that State;
Which have ethnic, linguistic or cultural features different
from those of the rest of the population.
7. Problem of identity:
Because of the differences in socio-cultural practices,
history and backgrounds, minorities have to grapple
with the issue of identity everywhere which give rise to
the problem of adjustment with the majority
community.
8. Problem of security
Different identity and their small number relative to the rest
of the society develop feeling of insecurity about their
life, assets and well-being.This sense of insecurity may
get accentuated at times when relations between the
majority and the minority communities in a society are
strained or not much cordial.
9. Problem Relating to Equity:
The minority community in a society may remain
deprived of the benefit of opportunities of development
as a result of discrimination. Because of the difference in
identity, the minority community develops the perception
of the sense of inequity.
10. Problem of being deprived
In areas like Employment, politics and social facilitation
they feel that they are poorly represented.
Also in civil services, medical colleges and engineering
colleges they are discriminated by dominant group.
11. Problem of psychological insecurity
Sociologically, perception of discrimination is as detrimental
as actual discrimination for members of minority groups
affects their motivations, aspiration and achievements.

Government have taken lot of measures to overcome
problems faced by minority group
Discriminatory laws and violence against religious
minorities:
cow slaughter’ laws
‘Anti-conversion’ laws
Exclusion of Christian and Muslim Dalits from the
Prevention of Atrocity Act
Access to justice for minority victims
Minorities in detention
NGO law and minority rights defenders
14. suggestions
There is a need to control communal riots.
Provide educational opportunities.
And also employment Opportunities.
For the minorities to lead a successful life by minimizing
the problems.
