6. ● The total number of plastic bags used per day in all 58 municipalities
of Nepal is 8143902
● Similarly, the total number of plastic bags used per day in
Kathmandu valley is 4791290.00
● It requires just 180 Days to cover Kathmandu city with a layer of
polythene bag
● 52 times polythene bags produced in one day can encircle the ring
road of Kathmandu

especially the single used plastic bags, which only 1 to 3% is recycled worldwide”.

● 160,000 plastic bags are used every second!
● 5 trillion plastic bags are produced yearly. They can encircle the
world 7 times if aligned together.
● Plastic will only start degrading after 700 years and will only fully
degrade in 1000 years. This means that all the plastic that has ever
been produced has not degraded yet.
● Approximately, 556,581,731,702 plastic bags are produced
