Smart Mobility at Eindhoven University of Technology
Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) focuses on the societal challenges in Smart Mobility. Good mobility is of great importance for individuals, as well as for businesses and the economy. For this reason around 230 researchers from dozens of TU/e research groups are working in the Smart Mobility areas on clean, efficient and intelligent vehicle technology, and on logistics and traffic systems. The aims include reducing emissions and congestion, and increasing safety. Examples of recent developments at TU/e are intelligent cars that communicate with each other to prevent congestion, lighter batteries for electric cars, cleaner and more economical diesel engines, and optimized planning models for goods transport.

eLIPTIC Introduction - "Electrifying Public Transport in Cities" - Hendrik Ko...Daniel Hayes
An introduction into eLIPTIC, a 3 year, €5.9m Civitas project under the EU Horizon 2020 programme investigating the potential for using existing electrical infrastructure to support the charging of electric buses and other vehicles.
e.g. Transport for London have investigated the potential for using the private London underground tube network as a way to support electric buses and taxis
The project has three key pillars of investigation:
1. Safe integration of e-buses into existing electric public transport infrastructure and upgrading trolley bus networks with 'better buses' or trolley hybrids and automatic wiring/de-wiring technology;
2. Smart energy management upgrade of electric public transport systems;
3. Multi-purpose use of electric public transport infrastructure e.g. for safe recharging of non-public transport vehicles.
