Writing Reflection Paper
In Thai curriculum, English subject requires four skills to be taught to the students
including listening, reading, speaking and writing orderly. Writing skill is difficult for students
to understand so that the teacher has to pay full attention to what kinds of the activities he or
she will assign for the students in order to let them learn through the activities effectively. For
the previous class, I have learned writing lesson plans from peers and Aj. Alix that were
interesting and useful.
Firstly, the Alphabets writing activity. The teacher let the students write the first letters
which are in their name followed by the adjective to describe themselves. I think this activity
provided not only academic area to learn about adjective, but also the students could get to
know each other. This activity took time for a short time so that it was good to use this activity
to motivate students to learn and enjoy to create their own description.
For the writing lesson from peers, I like the writing activity from Sweetpea and Billy
that the teacher let the students create their own food advertising. I saw that my friends drew
and colored very well so that the advertising looked interesting. I think in the classroom
students would like to do this activity. Moreover, not only writing skill the students would
practice, but speaking skill would require to practice also. Doing role play looks like fun
because the students had to act as the merchant and tried to motivate the customers to buy their
products. It sounded funny and enjoyable.
The writing activity I liked the most was writing a story for 2 paragraphs about
superstition and ghost story. In this activity, I had to create a story involved with the superstition
around the world and the ghost story. The main characters are my friends who have to face
with the extraordinary events so that this is great and funny. Moreover, the teacher can assign
the students to write a story by specific grammar such as past tense, perfect tense, future tense
and etc. The topic of the story can be changed to whatever the students are interested in so that
the students work best and creatively with what they like the most.
There are many interesting and useful writing activities in the world which the teachers
can access via various resources. The main duty of teachers is to apply the activity which suits
their students the most to use in the class. The writing activities mentioned above are great and
useful in the class and I like them all and hope to use it in my own class when I teach the
students to learn to write.
