5. Types of Equilibrium
There are many types of equilibrium.
Chemical equilibrium
Physical equilibrium
Thermal equilibrium
Dynamic equilibrium
Thermodynamic equilibrium
Solubility equilibrium
Vapor liquid equilibrium
6. Physical and Chemical equilibrium
Equilibrium is a concept of balancing, It can be either
Physical or Chemical
Physical equilibrium
If we talk about physical equilibrium we can say that is no
unbalanced force is acting upon system
Chemical equilibrium
If we are talking about Chemical Equilibrium we can say
that the forward reaction is equal to reverse reaction
9. Statement
“The rate at which a substance
reacts is proportional to its active
mass and the role of chemical
reaction is proportional to the
product of the active masses of
reactants”
10. Explanation
The term Active Mass means the
concentration in term of moles/dm3.
For example :
the active mass of 2H2 (4g of H2) is 2
moles/dm3 and it is represented by means
of square brackets such as {H2}2 = active
mass of H2.
11. This is called equilibrium expression
where “Kc” is equilibrium constant for concentration
