4. The Travel Trade - This part of the tourism industry
has to do with selling travel.
Jobs in this area include roles for Travel professionals;
Travel Advisor/Consultant; Travel Representatives.
5. Travel Transport and Operation .
This aspect of the tourism industry
includes Tour Operators, Airlines, Bus and
Coach Companies.
There are job roles for Pilots; Ground handling
staff; Cabin crew; Drivers; Tour Guides.
6. Cultural Tourism /Tourist Attractions
People who work in this area may even
specialize in areas such as environmental and
cultural interpretation.
Job roles include Tour Guides and Leaders.
7. Adventure Tourism
People who work in adventure tourism include
Tour operators; Tour guides; Outdoor
adventure instructors and park wardens.
8. Events and Conferences
Special events are a significant part of tourism
in Ireland
People who work in this area plan, co-ordinate,
organize, advertise and deliver events to the
public.
9. Tourism Services
Are the supports provided in the industry
There are numerous job roles associated, from
researchers to information advisors and
advertising, marketing and PR professionals.
10. Hospitality in Tourism.
Hospitality is its own industry however some
aspects of the industries can intersect.
Hotels would be one such intersection.
11. Communication skills
Most importantly, if you're considering a PR
career you will have to be a good
communicator. You will not only need to be a
confident speaker, but an excellent listener too.
Research skills
A PR person needs to be a good researcher in
order to communicate accurately and
authoritatively on a subject
12. Writing skills
You will be expected to write engaging content
for clients, whether that's a guest article in a
magazine, a case study or a press release
Advertisement
There has been an increased demand for
language skills because of the globalisation of
business.
13. Creativity
PR is a profession which constantly calls for
fresh ideas and lateral thinking, so having a
creative streak can be a crucial skill to bring
you to career success

Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing
or related field

Internship preferred for employment,
school leadership or communications
experience preferred by some employers,
voluntary accreditation available with five
years of experience
