3. Contingency Plan
Potential Problem Effect On Production Control/ Mitigation
Models don’t turn up/ drop out Slows down the production process • Discuss thoroughly in advance what
days and make sure I plan multiple
days so there is more opportunities
to get the filming/ photos done
• Get extra models so I can use them
just In case the others don’t turn up
Weather is bad Can't film/ take pictures delaying the
process off production
• Plan ahead and check the
weather forecast
• Find locations inside that fit my
aesthetic
Don’t get permission for location Not allowed to take photos there
without permission
• Make sure before we go out
taking photos we don’t
need permission
Location is crowded Cant take photos as there are too
many people
• Plan back up locations so there
are different options to take
photos at
Models have no Transport Models cant get to the location,
delaying all the production
• Work out transport to the location
• If needed I can pick the models
up and take them to the location
Production Time Get behind effecting the whole
project process
• Plan a schedule ahead as to
when I will take photos and
where
4. Contingency Plan
Potential Problem Effect On Production Control/ Mitigation
Can 't get on with models and they don’t
work well
I don’t get the photos I want/ not up to the
standard that I aimed for
• When looking for models interview and
make sure I get on with them and they
listen to what I'm asking them to do
Models don’t know what they're doing Takes longer to get the photos/ videos
that I want
• Have a rehearsal with the models
planning all the photos and videos, to
establish how I want them to pose
and be in front of the camera.
SD card gets wiped/loose all footage Delays production and would have to re
shoot everything
• One I have taken all my photos/ back
up my footage and put it on one
drive
Don’t have all the equipment I need Means I cant get the footage I want as I
wont have the facilities to do it
• Book out the kit I need well in
advance so It will not effect
my production schedule
Battery dies when I'm taking photos Would have to stop taking photos and
schedule it for a different day
• Make sure that the battery is fully
charged before taking pictures
• Have a spare battery charger
Nowhere to plug the lights into If there is no plug I wouldn’t be able to
use the lights and it could effect the
quality of the photos/ videos
• Check the locations where I plan to
use lights to see if there are power
sources to plug them into
Run out of storage Wouldn’t be able to shoot anymore
footage
• Make sure there is room on the SD
card before
• Wipe the SD card so its empty
• Take a spare SD card for back up
6. Theoretical Problems
Time management- One of my biggest problems I have faced over the two years is time management. For
production I have done a rough time schedule and plan to do a more in depth time schedule in my planning which I
will stick to. I plan to take 3 days max on taking photos . I'm going to take most of my photos/ videos out of college time
unless its footage I need to film in the college studio. Doing this will give me more time to edit and create different
products. By creating a specific plan will hopefully keep me on track and will leave me time to make improvements
before the deadline.
Models dropping out/ unable to attend- For my FMP in year 1 models dropping out last minute was one of
my biggest problems. To prevent been in this situation again I have got extra models for back up. I have also
negotiated finance for transport for the models if I can't pick them up or if they have no way of getting there. When
selecting which models I am using I have made sure that they get on with each other, will listen to what I ask them to
do and are capable to model ( not camera shy ). With the careful selection of models that I have chosen, will hopefully
enable the production process run smoothly with no delays.
7. Theoretical Problems
Location Permissions- For my factual project one problem that occurred and delayed the production
process massively was the permissions for the location. It took an extra two weeks to get the permissions
through which left me with a lot less time to film, edit the footage and effected the evaluation process. To
prevent this problem from happening again I will make sure I don’t need permission in advance but if I do ill
negotiate with the owner so I can shoot footage on their land.
Finance- One problem that could occur is finance for the models traveling to and from the shoot locations.
To prevent any travelling issues I will discuss travelling prices with the models and pay for it or personally
pick them up and drop them off. This way I am guaranteed for all the models to turn up enabling production
to run smoothly. In terms of outfits for the models, there should be no need to buy clothes as I have
planned outfits with the models that they own which fits in with my whole theme of my project. If there is any
need for more pieces of clothing I will pay for it.
8. Theoretical Problems
Concentration, focus and procrastination – One of the main things I struggled with this year is concentration
and procrastination. A lot of it is to do with when I'm stuck on a piece of work instead of moving on to something else and going
back I panic to the point I just stop working and then get distracted instead of moving onto something else. To prevent this from
happening, instead of working on one piece of work for ages I will swap throughout the day which will also help me keep focus
more as I won't get bored of working on one specific piece of work.
Technical skills-
Camera- One problem that occurred when taking photos for my last FMP was the exposure on the photos.
Because my photos were taken outside, it was a challenge to balance out the lighting. The sun was too
bright and I struggled at points to get the model in the photo without the sun over powering it.
