12. Introduction
I am applying for a creative media and a fashion photography
course. I am really enjoying studying media at college so no
doubt I will love it even more at university. The main reasons I
want to go to university is I would really like to continue learning
and growing in media and learning about it in much deeper
detail. Everytime we have an assignment I always end up linking
it back to fashion as this is what I enjoy the most therefore the
fashion photography course is great for me as it combines both
my favourite things.
13. Academic History
I am currently studying Creative media at York college and before this I
studied media as a GCSE in secondary school. In secondary school my
studying mostly focused on the more writing side of media such as analysing
and annotating media products so therefore I have had a lot of practice in
analysing media products which comes in very handy when researching for
my projects and when writing my evaluations too. Although we did get to get
creative and create our own products. I got to experiment and make a
magazine which is where my love for creating magazines have come from as I
remembered hoe much I enjoyed doing that one. In secondary school we
didn’t have photoshop or anything like we do in college so I enjoy it even
more as I have endless editing options etc that I didn’t have in school.
14. Current Study
It was mainly in my first year of college when I started experimenting more
with the creative side of media and using different software. In my first year
of college I have developed skills in software such as photoshop and premiere
pro which I am sure will come in very handy at university. I have also been
taught how to use pieces of equipment such as, cameras, lights and green
screens the correct way. During my first year college I have made various
products such as a music video , animated video game , a magazine and a few
billboard and film posters so I have covered a wide variety of different
products.
15. The Future
In the future I would love to carry on doing media however I would love to
encorporate more fashion into it if that is possible. I have found a university
course in Salford which is fashion styling and image making which sounds
perfect for me. I liked the sound of this course as I am not interested in the
textile and making side of fashion I am all about the styling, I didn’t even
know they did courses like this so I was shocked to see one that fitted my
criteria so much. I am a very big fan of a few different fashion brands, my all
time favourite being Vivienne westwood and my dream would to be working
for them.
16. Outside College
I have a part time job Outside of college as a waitress, with working in
hospitality it has helped me gain some brilliant skills for example, social skills,
management skills, money handling and has helped to just in general boost
my confidence. Before this I had a job in a hairdressers where I was also
talking to and greeting people on a daily basis so I am experienced in social
skills.
During school I also did DOFE which was excellent in building teamwork and
once again management skills and taking control.
17. Conclusion
The main reason I want to go to university is because I would
really like to continue learning and growing in media as it is
something that I really enjoy. I feel like doing the fashion
photography course will be great as I will be able to learn so
much more about fashion and in greater detail.
I also think it will be great to get abit of indepence and set me up
for life after uni as I will learn the basic life skills that I will
probably use day to day for the rest of my life.
