This document explains the levels of the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) using examples to describe each level. Level 1 signers have limited vocabulary, frequent errors, and production that is often incomprehensible. Level 2 signers have basic vocabulary and sentence structure but lack fluency and make grammar mistakes. Level 3 signers have fairly fluent production with some errors but can communicate simple language clearly. Higher levels have broader vocabulary, near perfect production, and can effectively communicate complex ideas.
