JOB PURPOSE
Air Traffic Service at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport employs personnel to fill
a support role to the maintenance and supply towards Air Traffic Service.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 Assisting the Tower Controller in the event of an emergency in all fields.
 Answering telephone and passing messages like ETA, DLA, DIV Arrival, etc.
 Maintenance of the daily information in the Flight briefingarea and the verification and
transmission of Flight planning.
 Preparing flightprogress strip from AFTN, CADAS and on telephone information, for ATC
and Radar controllers.
 Maintenance of regular contact with Airport Rescue and Firefighting service, Fuel service,
Information service, Security and Safety service, Technical and Engineering service,
Immigration and any other agencies/personsas required.
 Enter all inbound and outbound flight details to FDP system.
 Operation of emergency orders and communication with external and internal service as
required.

Aeronautical information service
 Acceptance and transmission of submitted flight planswith regard to possible errors in:
 Flight levels
 Routings
 Destination and alternate Aerodrome ICAO codes
 Boundary estimates
 A/C Registration
 Operator
 Overflying and Landing permission.
 Provision of briefing service with regard to:
 NOTAMs
 Weather situation at departure, destination and alternate aerodromes
 En-route significant weather.
 Provision of access and guidance of UAE AIP, Flight Guides, en-route etc.
.
 Managementof locallyreceived arrival and departure flight plan information and
dissemination and monitoring of same as necessary.
 Secure, confidential monitoring and managementof VIP/VVIP flightplan information.
Movement Log entries
 Enter the Actual Time of Arrival (ATA) and Actual Time Departure (ATD) of aircraft
movements in addition with all required details into the AircraftMovement Register.
 Ensure that chargeable missed approachesand low level approachesare counted at
same rate as a TOUCH and GO landing.
 At all time ensure that the correct AircraftRegistration and Type of Aircrafthas been
applied.

METEOROLOGY
This Office is working 24 hours in different shifts with skilled staff. We have the
Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) by Micro-step. The latest and
accurate Meteorological data is available in DSP, as per ICAO document Annex 3
recommendation and approved by GCAA.
 Observe Routine METAR an hourly basis, record in METAR register and pass the METAR
REPORT to the radar and tower controller.
 Conduct ,record half hourly observation daily from 0000UTC to 0600UTC and from
1200UTC to 1800UTC, record in METAR register with red pen
 Observing the meteorological conditions or changesand if it is necessary ,record in
METAR register with Red pen and issue SPECI
 Preparing SYNOP in every three hour, in SYNOPTIC register.
 Record and transmit hourly METAR, SPECI and SYNOP through CADAS.
 Conduct SPECI in the event of an emergency declares by ATC.
 Make ensure we receive Terminal Aerodrome Forecast (TAF) covering every Six hour from
Dubai MET Office.
 Make ensure we receive Aviation Weather Forecast Charts from UAE Central
Meteorological and Seismology Office.
 As soon as we receive Weather Warning and UAE FIR SIGMET ensure this MET
information is passed to listed concerned authorities.
 We fax Weather forecastcharts, weather warning to the RAK Police Air wings and also
provide other weather information upon their request.
 Transmit by FAX the entire hourly METAR Data sheet to National Centre for Meteorology
and Seismology in Abu Dhabi in a daily basis.
 Weather briefing to flight crew.
We provides MET folder for the flights which departs from RAK Airport. Through internet
we provide latest en-route FIR TAF, upper wind charts, significant weather charts and

destination and alternative Aerodromes METAR and TAF.
COMMUNICATION
RAK Airport is being connected to SHEIKH ZAYED NAVIGATION center with the new
Terminal of the COMSOFT Aeronautical Data Access System (CADS) and
Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN).
 Comply at all time with the requirements and recommendation of ICAO Annex 10.
 Transmission and reception of Aeronautical messages on through CADAS and AFTN
system
 Monitor and record the daily traffic returns
 Monitor and report System outage handling
By reporting un-serviceability to the Duty ATCO and the Duty Technician
Request the Abu Dhabi Comm. to hold any traffic until further notice
Further advice to AD Comm. to proceed with traffic when serviceability.
 Ensure that messages are alwaystransmitted in order of priority.
 Filing IN/OUT messages
 Timely message are distributed to concerned, whenever required
