2. Physical part of Earth
There are classified into four parts
• Atmosphere
Air/Gases
• Biosphere
Life
• Lithosphere
Land/Rock
• Hydrosphere
Water
3. Biosphere
The regions of the surface and atmosphere of the
earth or another planet occupied by living organisms.
Bio means (Life)
Sphere means (surface)
4. Biosphere
• Narrow layer around Earth’s surface in which life can
exist.
• The uppermost part of the geosphere
• Most of the hydrosphere
• Lower part of the atmosphere.
• Biosphere is located near the Earth’s surface because
most of the sunlight is available near the surface.
5. Ecology and Ecosystem
Ecology:
The relationship between an organism and its environment
is the study of Ecology
Ecosystem:
Biotic and Abiotic factors combine to create a system.
• (biotic) related to life are living factors
Animal, plants, fungi etc
• (abiotic) related to non living thing
1. Environmental (pond, lake, ocean, desert, mountain)
2. Weather (Temperature, cloud, rain, snow)
6. Heterotrophs
Animals cannot make their own food so they must eat
plants and/or animals.
There are three groups of consumers or heterotrophs
1. Primary (herbivores)
2. Secondary (carnivores)
3. Tertiary (omnivores)
10. Role of the Sun for the
Biosphere
The Sun provides the light and heat
necessary to maintain life on Earth
and is the ultimate source of
Energy.
11. Role of Water in the Biosphere
•Water is the universal solvent and the
basis of all life on our Plant.
•The hydrosphere is important to the
Biosphere
