2. For telling one person “tú” what NOT to do, we follow a different formula:
Step 1: Take the present tense “Yo” form of the verb.
Step 2: Remove the “o” (This is called the yo stem)
Step 3: For –ar verbs, add –es
For – er and -ir verbs, add –as
Step 4: Put a “No” in front
Examples:
¡No hables! = Don’t speak!
¡No escribas! = Don’t write!
¡No comas! = Don’t eat!
3. When the stem ends in a “c” you have to change it to “qu” to get the “k” sound
Example: ¡No practiques! = Don’t practice!
When the stem ends in a “g” you have to add a “u” to make a “gay” sound
Example: ¡No juegues! = Don’t play!
When the stem ends in a “z” you have to change it to a “c” just because.
Example: ¡No almuerces! = Don’t eat lunch!
5. Where do we put the pronouns? IN FRONT! (all the time)
Examples:
¡No te preocupes! = Don’t worry!
¡No lo hagas! = Don’t do it!
¡No le digas nada! = Don’t tell him anything!
When there are 2 pronouns, the same RID rule applies: reflexive,
indirect and direct. No accents!
