Rhinegold Publishing
• Rhinegold Publishing was formed in 1977, producing
‘Classical Music Weekly’ (now Classical Music)
• The company buys ‘Opera Now’ magazine in 1992
• First GCSE/A-Level study guides for music are
published in 2002
• The company buys ‘Choir & Organ’, ‘International
Piano’, and ‘Muso’ magazines in 2009
• ‘Muso’ and ‘The Singer’ are incorporated into
‘Classical Music’ in 2012
Pictured left is an image of a classical
music magazine that Rhinegold
Publishing already produce. This may
cause an issue for me if I choose to use
Rhinegold as my magazine is of the
same genre.
• Rhinegold does not use any form of social media that
I could find, making my use of cross-media
convergence very difficult
• The only contact information provided by Rhinegold
is a postal address, phone number, and email
address, indicating an older target audience
• Rhinegold do offer a subscription service, which is
something I have included in my magazine
• This means there is more than one way for the target
audience to access the magazine
• Each magazine produced by Rhinegold looks to sell
for roughly £5, which would alienate a vast majority
of my target audience
• The higher price once again indicates a generally
older average target audience than my magazine,
meaning Rhinegold may not be suitable for my
magazine
• The magazines produced by Rhinegold appear to be
more news item based, which is completely different
to how I have structured my magazine (more
interview based), implying that my magazine would
not fit into the current style of magazine they
produce
• Upon reflection, I do not believe that Rhinegold
Publishing would be the correct publishers for my
magazine. This is because their general pricing would
allienate the majority of my target audience,
interview heavy style of my magazine does not fit
into the current choice of articles by the publisher,
the average target audience of this group is
significantly older than mine, and Rhinegold already
produce a classical magazine so the chances they
would be willing to take on another are very slim
