6. 2D computer graphics started in the 1950s, based on vector graphics devices. These
were largely supplanted by raster-based devices in the following decades. The
PostScript language and the X Window System protocol were landmark developments
in the field.
7. William Fetter was credited with coining the term computer graphics in 1961 to describe
his work at Boeing.
One of the first displays of computer animation was Future world (1976), which included
an animation of a human face and a hand that had originally appeared in the 1972
experimental short A Computer Animated Hand, created by University of Utah students
Edwin Catmull and Fred Parke.
