Evidence photoshoot
1. Evidence of my Photoshoot
The location for my photoshoot was
the photo studio because it is a
controlled environment and I can set
the lighting accurately how I want.
First I gave my actor a short
introduction about how I want her to
pose and what her facial expression
should be like and I checked if the
clothes she wears are the right ones.
I wanted my actor to wear a simple
black shirt and a natural make-up as
the style of my music genre is
simple. Electric Dance Music does not have a special style because it is many-sided and
therefore everybody can wear what he or she wants.
Before entering the photo studio I communicated the risks and hazards of the studio so that
both my actor and I can work safely.
I placed her on a chair in front of the black screen in the
studio and then started to set the lights so that the right side
of her face is lighted and there is shadow on the left side of
her face.
Next step was to adjust the camera and to make sure it is
placed analogously on the tripod. I used a camera offered
from my photography teacher and the tripod available in
the photo studio. As the photos are relatively simple there
was no additional equipment needed.
I told my actor to look straight into the camera with a
relaxed expression. The title of my CD album is “Awake”
and therefore she should look awake and sprightly but not
too enthusiastic. The natural expression on her face
demonstrates that the songs of the album are both cheerful
and calm so neither a happy nor a sad face should be
expressed but a mixture of both.
At that point the actual photoshoot could begin.
My first shots did not go very well because the
lighting was too low and the shadow was all
over her face rather than only on the left side.
2. Therefore I tried to turn up the light and place
it more in front of the actor to achieve the
results I want. And with the additional light it
looked much better.
I also decided to hold the camera horizontally
to get a better and more focused close-up.
I took photos of my actor from the front with eyes open and eyes closed so I can connect
them afterwards with Photoshop for my CD cover, which should show the actor’s face from
the front with one eye closed and one eye opened. I also took pictures of the right and left
side of her face which I need for the back and inside cover of my CD and for the advert.
After about an hour I had all the photos needed and the photoshoot was completed.
Thankfully none of the listed risks and hazards occurred so I can now say that the photoshoot
was successful.
