2. EP Example
LXST- “I Wanna
Live”
Despite the vast variety of music in
Looney Tunes, there were
unfortunately no EP’s that I could
get my hands on. After about 25
minutes of scavneing through CD’s,
Cassette and Vinyls, I asked the
store owner and he told me that
there are barely any to be found.
Due to that unfortunate fact, I took
to the internet to find an EP or
“Extended Play”, which normally
includes 4-6 songs. The EP that I
have chosen is by an indie pop/rap
artist named LXST titled, “I Wanna
Live” this ep contains 5 songs, one
of which is an intro of him talking.
This tape was released strictly
through DSP’s in early 2023.
3. LP Example
Kris Kristofferson-
“Sorrells Pickard”
This LP contains 12 songs in total,
which according to Splice.com,
makes it an LP. Splice states that
an LP (or “long play”) is usually
between 10-12 tracks. This LP
splits the 12 songs into 6 on side A
and 6 on side B. possibly the most
convincing piece of evidence that it
was an LP however, was the fact
that it was in a bin titled “Folk
Lp’s”.
4. Question for Clerk.
Question-
“Do you offer
Consignment?”
The clerk at Looney Tunes told me that
they do indeed offer consignment,
although they don't do it often. What is
fascinating is that they mostly consign
musical equipment, jewelry and
speakers, rather than actual music. He
said that they have consigned a albums
for local acts in the past, but at the
moment they did not have any.
However they did have some speakers
for sale as pictured here.
5. Upcoming Events
Although there was no promotion featured
within the store, the clerk informed me
that the owner was holding a “Surfboard
and record swap”, at Greysail Brewery in
Westerly, Rhode Island in just a few weeks.
He described this event to be like a small
Flee Market.
The picture featured here is from a past event
thrown by the record store.
6. National Record Store
Day
The Clerk pointed me to a
section with 10-12 Albums
from National Record Store
day, as well as a number of
Records from the year
before. The Record featured
here is “The Legendary
Demos” by Carole King
7. Store “SWAG”
The Store unfortunately did not have any
“Swag”, the clerk said that they used to
have T-Shirts available but they had run
out. There was not any merch from local
bands or artists either, and there was
sadly nothing for free.
However, I was able to find a picture
online, of the merchandise that was once
there.
8. Promos
While there were no posters
or flyers featured on the
inside of the store, there was
a variety of flyers next to the
entrance.
9. Reflection
I would indeed use this location for local
promotion. While this store isn't exactly
thriving, it is a local staple in our small town.
Based off of what I saw inside, there is not
alot of wall space and the consignment aspect
of the store is underwhelming, so our best bet
would be a register display. One thing about
this store is that they often work with local
car groups, as the owner is an avid car junkie.
Given this, we would leave a register display
of CD’s for $5 and each cd would come with
a complementary car freshener.
