2. The Extended Play Album
“Bookhead EP by JJ Doom
AN EP typically consists of 3-5 tracks and is
no longer than 30 minutes.
This “EP” consists of 9 tracks, but is
only 24 minutes and 54 seconds long.
While the project falls within the
parameters for time, it goes over on
track count. It is not the “standard” EP.

3. The Long Play Album
“The Marshall Mathers LP” by Eminem
”LP” Is short for Long Play.
A LP can be longer than an album,
however some people consider
LP’s and albums to be one in the
same.
It might depend on who you ask.
This Eminem LP is a prime
example of what an LP is, the
project consists of 18 tracks and is
1 HR & 12 minutes in length.
Compared to an EP, LP’s might be
double or triple in size
when discussing project length
4. Questions
with Michael
from Park Ave. CD’s
1. Do they offer consignment to
indie artists?
• YES! Artist are to bring in 3 copies of
their music, fill out a form, and ta-da
their in. From there, the artist and store
split the sale 50/50 based on prices set
by the artist.
2. How often do marketing reps visit
from the record labels?
• Michael explained that marketing reps
communicate primarily through email or
by means of phone call.
8. Promos
• Pictured is a ”Sampler CD” from
Atlantic Records. Park Ave CD’s is
playing the CD in store to
promote Atlantic Records artists’
and their releases from 2023.
While the CD does not highlight
any artist or genre in particular, it
is a curated mix meant to
showcase Atlantic Records talent
they have on their roster.
9. Reflection
• After visiting Park Ave. CD’s, I have found I really like the store. It was my first visit
to a “real” record store, and I found the experience very interesting.
• I do believe this store would be a good location for an indie artist to develop a
relationship with. The store happily welcomes local artists and allows said artist
the potential to make a little money through consignment. Additionally, while I
visited, there was a consistent flow of people coming in and out of the store
leading me to believe it is a rather popular spot and there is a good chance
someone might see the Indies’ music.
• If I were to work with Park Ave CD’s on promoting an artist, I would hope to post
some flyers/posters in the store and supply some SWAG items patrons can take
home with them and their new records. It might also be wise to offer a limited
number of "free samples" of the artist's music with other purchases,
creating a kind of buy-one-get-one deal.
