What makes this an LP?
"AstroWorld" is an LP, Long
Play Album, because it is
more than 5 tracks, and
more than 30 minutes play
time. It also had a larger
budget behind it, with
Travis Scott having a
history of sales and a good
following behind him.

4. Store Clerk Research Questions
Question: Does AstroZombies o
ff
er consignment to indie artists?
Answer: Yes, they do o
ff
er consignment. Due to limited space,
and the fact that its a record store, they only do consignment on
Vinyl Records, so we’d need vinyl pressed for the release to go
this route. They o
ff
er a 60/40 split, with us keeping the majority,
and suggested bringing in 5-10 records at a time.

5. Upcoming Events
Due to the nature of the COVID Pandemic in New Mexico, the owner stated that
there aren’t any scheduled events at Astrozombies in the foreseeable future.
However, when I was able to
research AstroZombies social
media, I found that AstroZombies
had a showing at a local theater
the evening before Halloween of
"The Rocky Horror Picture Show",
and I found this image of them
promoting the event with The
Rocky Horror Picture Show
“Audience Participation” Album.

6. Record Store Day Exclusives
Upon asking clerk if they had and Record Store Day exclusives, I
as informed that even though AstroZombies boasts one of the
largest and best selections of records in Albuquerque, NM, RSD
doesn't work with AstroZombies on Record Store Day due to the
fact that they also sell comics and
fi
gurines.

While AstroZombies didnt have
many record promotions, no
fl
iers,
posters, etc, they did have a New
Arrivals Section, and a note listing
that a “Rainbow Kitten Surprise"
album was still sealed, for sale,
and extremely rare.

9. Record Store Reflection
I would use this store for a local indie artist’s album release. I would ask if
we could set up an in-store event, so that we could garner attention for the
Record/Comic store, and attention to the fact that we would be utilizing
the record store for releases of our artists music, and promote our artist at
the event with
fl
iers and business cards to direct attendees to the artists
social media and streaming platforms.
I would have a small supply of vinyl records printed, maybe even making
the body of work exclusively available on vinyl and only at the local record
store for the
fi
rst 3-6 months of release, and set up a 60/40 consignment
split, and promote the release on social media via video adverts showing
the record store, artist, samples of songs/videos, and providing the details
of the release and where it can be bought.
