1. Seven Characteristics to be The Best Team Leader
o We should use kind words in our discussion.
Gentleness and kindness is always stronger than harsh words.
o Apply Socratic Method.
“Start your discussion with agreeable things then come to the point slowly”.
o Talk about your own mistakes before discussing the mistakes of others.
o Apply PIP method
First ‘P’ for ‘Positive’. Find a strength of a person to whom you want to discuss his
mistake.
Then ‘I’ for ‘Improvement’.
Last ‘P’ for positivity of combined effect of ‘P’ and ‘I’.
And focus on the situation, not on the person.
o Use the advanced stage of cultivating ideas into the minds of the people. This is, ‘Ask
questions’ e.g. If we do/act like this then these would be the benefits of the action (Tell
him the benefits) and then give him the time and let him think in his own way. He would
surely do the things according to your plan. Then being a Team Leader you should
appreciate your team and make them realize that it was the team’s decision and it was
fantastic.
o Let the other person save his honor.
Never give birth to any idea that may humiliate a person.
Remember the historical words of Mustafa Kamal Ata Turk which were addressed to the
two generals of opponent army.
“Sit down Gentleman. War is game in which often best men are defeated”.
o Give the other person a good reputation.
