1. Q4: How did you use new media
technologies in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation
stages?
Megan Desborough
2. Premier Pro
Our main technology used was the software Premier Pro.
This software put our video together and allowed us to edit
our footage, alter the layout and adjust colour and speed.
Uploading footage onto Premier Pro was very
simple, however some clips were changed to photographs
so we had to re-film.
Once all had been resolved, we were able to begin editing
our music video together.
3. Premier Pro
In order to begin editing, we had to filter though footage
then add it to the timeline. At this point you would have to
cut the clip to the part you want by using the ‘mark in/out’
tool.
This enabled us to fit the lip-syncing with the music
perfectly. It is quite tricky to begin with as you have to listen
multiple times in order to get it correct.
4. Premier Pro
Also on this software, we
were able to change the
speed of the video.
This was included to add
a variety of shots to our
music video, so it wasn’t
so repetitive.
The speed can
be adjusted by
moving the
slider to
different
percentages.
5. Premier Pro
Premier Pro allowed us to
include very fast cutting.
Our intention was for it to
look like it was flashing.
This is the end result. By
cutting away blocks of
footage a flashing effect is
created.
We had to use
the slice tool to
achieve this.
6. Photoshop
Photoshop was the software used to create our magazine
advertisement and our album artwork.
We decided to use Photoshop, as it gives you the best
choice, for editing products together. It also brings out the
best quality for our products.
The use of Photoshop is hard to begin with, but once you
find your way around, it becomes simpler.
Photoshop allows you to change the colour, brightness,
saturation of an image as well as being able to layer, add
text and alter the image.
7. Photoshop
Using Photoshop allowed us to
change the colour of the image
to maintain the colour scheme
thus creating continuity over the
three products.
We decided to choose black and
white filters to convey a
modern, stylish and classy look.
It was very simple to do. By using
the colour tool, we adjusted
individual colours to create the
perfect image.
9. Photoshop
This is our advertisement.
Here, we used many of
the same techniques,
such as layering.
By using Photoshop, it
enabled us to use similar
or the same images as
what we had used on the
digipak. This kept in the
element of continuity.
10. Overall
Both Photoshop and Premier Pro were used in the making
of our ancillary products and a music video. I found that
they were both simple to use and if something became a
barrier, you could watch tutorials on YouTube to help you.
All of our technologies used, were digital. I think this
benefitted us, as we didn’t have to compromise our skills.
The combination of technologies worked well with each
other and they were both extremely useful. I found that,
these tasks were completed to a high standard because of
this factor.
