The document discusses the use of new media technologies in creating various products.
Premiere Pro was used extensively to edit video, including cutting clips, adding transitions, color correction, and lip syncing. Photoshop allowed designing a magazine advert and digipak through features like adding fonts, adjusting images and colors. YouTube, Blogger, Prezi, and Slideshare helped research, document, and share work. A camera was used to film video footage. Overall, various software and tools facilitated the production, editing, and sharing of media.
1. Question four:
How did you use new media technologies in
the construction and research, planning and
evaluation?
2. Technology played a large part in the
preparation, research, creation and
evaluation of all our products. All
contributing towards creating our
product and researching for it.
This presentation will go show some of the stages
we went through to make our products and the
technologies we used.
Introduction
3. We used PremierPro the most out of all the software available, as it enabled us to edit our video
and to export it for YouTube. It provided us with the means for cutting and ordering the video and
syncing the music with our footage. The method for lip syncing came quite easy, as the tools and
techniques available provided us with simple steps to follow and made the whole process more
efficient. For example, the zoom feature helped a lot when trying to move clips, because when lip
syncing, one frame can make a difference. We used the cut feature a lot when editing our video as
it meant we could remove unwanted sections and make the video seem more fluent and
professional. The tool features contributed a lot during our editing process as they allowed us to
efficiently edit our video whist creating good content.
The feature that helped the most when making our video look professional was the colour
correction feature, as it allowed us to easily adjust the colour in a way that it contributed towards
our brand image. The colour of the video was one of our downfalls from our rough cut, which is
why the colour correction feature was good help. Another effect we used was adding a letterbox to
out video, this made the video look more professional and fitted it in with typical music video
conventions. We also added some transitions to the video in order to keep the flow of the video,
PremierPro provided us with a wide range of transitions, we used fade the most as it helped with
the flow due to its subtle qualities.
Premier Pro
4. We used Photoshop to create our two ancillary tasks, the magazine advert and the digipak. after
we’d made the video we had a clear path to follow in terms of colour and design. Photoshop
allowed us to add font and adjust images, two qualities that make up good products. We added font
that represented our stars persona, so we went on to a website named ‘DaFont’ and downloaded
one that was suitable. Then on Photoshop we changed the colour and size so it fitted with our
images. The colour of the images didn’t match our videos colour scheme, so to change this we
simply adjusted the colour balance of the images and made it a similar colour scheme, for example
we made the back cover black and white as it relates to the videos black and white sequences. This
task was easily done due to the minimal steps to follow and wide range of colours.
With the digipak we had to accommodate for six panels, each one having a different image. The
front cover had the logo as well as the image therefore it was more of a task. Other than the back
cover all the other sides came easy after the front cover was complete. We used the logo in four
panels including the front cover as this helps with the brand image and makes the product look
more professional.
Photoshop
5. PremierPro and Photoshop both contributed towards the creation of our products, but we used other technologies
to research and evaluate our products:
YouTube:
YouTube was the website we used to upload our content to the internet. It was easy to use and allowed us to
upload it in high quality, also we could link it to other websites so the video could be viewed elsewhere.
Blogger:
We used blogger to document all our research and content, as it was easy to use and provided the means to present
our content. After uploading our work to the blog we where able to add an evaluation which can be seen by others.
Prezi:
Prezi was the website we used to answer question two, as it lets you create a presentation that looks good and is
easy to view. It allows you to upload images and add text, therefore it works well as a presentation software.
Slideshare:
This software allows you to upload PowerPoint files to the internet so you can share it around and use it in other
websites such as Blogger.
Camera:
The camera was obviously used to film our video and considering its size it performed well and gave us good
quality footage. It provided us with easy ways to upload the footage and wasn’t a task to carry around.
