This document provides a step-by-step methodology for waterproofing roofs with Crown Izonil. The process involves: 1) Surface preparation through cleaning and crack treatment, 2) Applying cement slurry and the first layer of Crown Izonil, 3) Inserting a glass fiber mesh between the first and second Izonil layers, 4) Applying the second Izonil layer, 5) Curing with polythene sheets for 7 days, and 6) Optionally adding a protective coating. Fiberglass mesh reinforces the plaster layers, protects against cracking, and improves mechanical strength in a cost-effective manner.

Roof Waterproof Treatment Work
Step-1:
REMOVABLE OF OLD PLASTER/LIME TERRACING :
It is important to remove all existing patent stone, CC casting plaster, Brick Bat Coba & lime
terracing from the RCC roof surface (Mather Slab)
SURFACE PREPARATION:
It is important to remove all existing plaster, stucco, loose particles, residual paint, oil, rust,
dust, and other impurities. Chipping Machine or with Required Equipment as required at the
site and as per the condition.
The RCC surface should be thoroughly cleaned water, or wire brush. The surface should be
well moistened with water before application.

Insert Glass Fiber Mesh (10mm X 10mm):
Insert Glass Fiber Mesh on 1st
layer of Izonil like sandwich.
Overlapping of mesh should be followed strictly.( Lapping 4 inch)
Slopping has to be maintained between two joints of Izonil.
Required gradient is provided towards drain point. (1/72)
Every Joint has to be covered with izonil including fiberglass mesh.( With required
measurement)
** For better application of fiberglass mesh don’t apply 1st
layer of Izonil wider than
1100mm ( 3.6ft).

Step-5:
CURING :
Immediately polythene sheet has to be provided on Izonil plaster because of its dry
condition.
Ponds are to be made for Curing and Checking for Any leakages
The plaster has to be cured for minimum of 7 days.

Methodology for Protection Coat or Leveling Screed on the Roof.
1. Clean all the Loose Particles that have been settled on the Izonil Layer and check
that Izonil Layer should not be damaged.
2. Wash it water once and Clean it
3. The levels are to be marked as per the required gradient on the Parapet walls.
4. Check that the entire exit Holes are properly packed.
5. The ratios for the above screed may be as per the Specification of the client/
Structural Designer.
6. Before laying the screed cement Slurry applied on the Izonil Layer.
7. Complete the protection layer and Start curing it once the Finger Impressions are
found on it.
8. Ponds are to be made for Curing.

Fiberglass mesh protects plaster layer surface from cracking
Fiberglass mesh is cheap material that does not burn and is characterized by both low weight
and high strength. These properties allow it to be successfully used in the formation of plaster
facades, as well as use on internal wall and ceiling surfaces. This material is widely used for
fastening the surface layer at the corners of the room.
Most widely used standard fiberglass plater mesh is the density of 90g/m2
and 165g/m2
for
exterior cladding and facade work. Resistant to alkalis, does not decompose and will not rust
over time, it does not emit toxic and harmful substances, has a high resistance to tearing and
stretching, protects the surface from cracking and improves its mechanical strength. Easy to
handle and use.

Application of plaster fiberglass mesh
Fiberglass mesh is used to strengthen the surface of the plaster layer all kinds of
buildings.
This mesh reinforced liquid waterproofing layers slabs and roofs.
Fiberglass mesh used to impart mechanical strength filler floor coverings that are
different self-leveling properties.
Application of glass fiber mesh contributes to strengthening plaster, and the bases used
for laying ceramic tiles.
Benefits plaster reinforcing mesh:
Resistant to alkalis;
Does not decompose and will not rust over time;
Does not emit toxic and hazardous substances;
Helps to overcome stress caused by sudden changes in temperature and humidity;
Has a high resistance to tearing and stretching;
Protects the surface from cracking and improves its mechanical strength;
Plaster mesh is easy to handle and use.
