PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
Freelance Contract Work January 2011-Current
(Project Support and Coordination, Embryologist, Internal Auditor and Implementer of
Systems and Protocols)
Freelance contract work undertaken whilst broadening skills through further studies. This
consisted of working with several companies to carry out business administrative and
consultancy work including providing administrative support on project work, managing the
accounts for projects and companies, liaising with local and international clients and
suppliers, training embryologist, auditing systems, data collection and analysis for systems
improvement and implementing protocols.
Key achievements:
Breedtech, Australia, China – Worked on the biggest ovine embryo implantation project
in China as an embryologist. Liaised with the local company to establish systems.
Philippines – Consulted with local universities, government department and private
entrepreneurs on the use of animal reproductive technologies to advance and develop the
national dairy program.
IVP International, Australia – Worked in a bovine IVF laboratory. Trained new technicians
in procedures. Helped designed and implement R&D programs for eventual commercial
use including data collection, analysis and reporting.
Interactive Drawing Therapy, NZ – Casual business administrative work such as client
management, marketing and sales, enrolment administration, course coordination,
preparing course materials, website support and account management.
Allstock Technologies, Australia – Froze sheep embryos for an export programme to
Brazil.
Premier Genetics, NZ, Australia, USA – Worked on an animal multiplication project.
Liaised with local and international clients. Carried out internal audits and implemented
corrective actions as required. Updated and advised on writing manuals and protocols for
Ministry of Primary Industries’ accreditation and certification, carried out business
administrative work.
Premier Genetics NZ Ltd. March 2007 – December 2010
Business Administrator and Embryologist
Provided expertise in the collection of small ruminant embryos in NZ, Australia and USA. This
included assessing embryo viability and processing embryos accordingly, assisting
veterinarians, administering and maintaining anaesthesia of animals during surgical
collection. Other responsibilities include liaising with relevant stakeholders, organising the
logistics and projects of conducting the work domestically and internationally, managing
suppliers, ensuring that protocols are implemented and followed in accordance to NZ’s official
assurance programme and Ministry of Primary Industries’ guidelines.
Key achievements:
Provided consistently successful results and a high standard of service that helped
promote and expand the business. Due to this, international clients were wanting and
willing to use a NZ based business rather than the domestic ones available.
Revamped protocols for Ministry of Primary Industries’ accreditation. This includes writing
manuals to a high standard that meets international criterion. Was responsible for ensuring
that all criteria were met in order to acquire new official government accreditation that will
enable the business to expand its operations.
Established a robust internal auditing system.

Embrionics Ltd. June 2006 – February 2007
IVP Technician/Embryologist
Contracted to help set up a working bovine In Vitro Procedure (IVP) laboratory for commercial
and research purpose. This laboratory produced commercial and research embryos. Once
the laboratory was operational, provided embryology expertise to meet commercial orders
whilst undertaking research work in collaboration with local and international scientist. This
included recording results and its analysis to develop experimental parameters accordingly.
Key achievements:
Set up of the laboratory from the initial layout stage to operational. This included
performing the procedures and running simulated tests to ensure that all aspects of
the lab were functioning properly, dealing with suppliers to ensure all the materials
and equipment were delivered. The laboratory was set up to a standard where
scientists with international reputations in IVP systems can carry out research work.
Part of a team that developed and implemented R&D programs such as improving
the efficiency of producing embryos from river buffalos.
ArTech Animal Reproductive Technologies July 2002 – May 2006
IVP Technician/Embryologist
Produced bovine embryos by IVP. The majority of clients were dairy farmers looking to
enhance their herd performance by increasing the number of offspring from their top
performing cattle. Other responsibilities include improving the system and results, liaising with
clients and sending out reports, setting up projects with semen centres such as Ambreed
(now CRV Ambreed) and LIC, working with NZ government agencies to make the laboratory
compliant to NZ’s official assurance programme.
Key achievements:
Set up and completed in-house research projects to improve the system used in IVP
thus increasing productivity and therefore profit.
Worked with semen centres to characterise bull semen to maximise its efficiency
when used in IVP.
Helped develop a computer program that enables the results and data entered to be
used in a way that is applicable to both laboratory and administration staff.
SAITL Dairy Laboratory Nov 2001 – June 2002
Laboratory Technician
Analysed milk samples collected from dairy farms for components such as fat and protein
content. This was done by using an automated machine and wet chemistry techniques.
