2. BUDDHIST PHILOSOPHY
• It refers to the philosophical investigations and systems
of inquiry that developed among various schools of
Buddhism in India following the parinirvana of The
Buddha and later spread throughout Asia.
3. FOUR NOBLE TRUTHS
• As preached by Buddha are that the life is full of
suffering (Duhkha)
• That there is a cause of this suffering (Duhkha-
samudaya)
• It is possible to stop suffering (Duhkha-nirodha)
• There is a way to extinguish suffering (Duhkha-
nirodha-marga)
4. DEPENDENT ORIGINATION
•Is the Buddhist doctrine of causality. This
system of thought maintains that everything has
been caused into existence.
5. ZEN BUDDHISM
• Zen is a school of Mahayana Buddhism that originated
in China during the Tang dynasty, known as the Chan
School, and later developed into various sub-schools
and branches.
7. RITUAL CONDUCT
• In the Confucian tradition, there are three levels of
sacrificial ritual Great Sacrifice offered by the emperor,
Middle Sacrifice offered by court officials, and Minor
Sacrifice offered by local officials.
8. HUMANENESS AND THE SUPERIOR PERSON
• HUMANENESS- Is the Confucian virtue denoting the
good quality of a virtuous human when being altruistic
and also called (REN) in Chinese.
• SUPERIOR PERSON- The junzi is a Chinese
philosophical term often translated as “gentleman" or
"superior person" and employed by Confucius in
the Analects to describe the ideal man.
9. CHILD OBEDIENCE AND GOOD
GOVERNMENT
• CHILD OBEDIENCE- Children are required to absolutely obey
their parents because the primary beneficiary of such obedience
is not the parents or the tradition but the children including adult
children who may or may not have parents that are
contemporaneously alive.
• GOOD GOVERNMENT- Confucius promises a government
that cares for the people, that makes their well-being its primary
concern
10. MENCIUS
• Was a Confucian philosopher during The Warring States
Period in China 481-221 BCE and is considered the
greatest after Confucius himself for his interpretation,
formulation, and dissemination of Confucian concepts.
