3. The aim of this course it to introduce students to;
1. Critical Reservoir Rock properties (oil,gas & water) and PVT
relationship
2. Importance of porosity and permeability
3. Single & multiple Phase Flow in porous rock
4. Electrical Properties of rock-fluid system
5. Basic reservoir fluid behaviour
4. Upon completion of this course student should know;
• Definitions of porosity , saturation and how they are used to estimate oil
and/or gas,
• Determine the physical nature of a reservoir.
Determine the chemical composition of reservoir fluids and their effect on
geological and engineering studies.
• The definitions of absolute, effective and two and three phase relative
permeabilities.
• Have the ability to calculate flow rates from Darcy’s law for both single and
multiphase flow conditions under linear or radial flow
• Understand hydrocarbon phase behaviour
• Identify types reservoir fluid from P-T phase diagram
• Define and calculate formation volume factors of reservoir fluids
