4. AUDIENCE RESEARCH All of the people I asked to do my questionnaire were 16-18 years old. This will help be to gather a more suitable range of interests that suit the age range, keeping in mind that I need to make the magazine unisex as I asked both girls and boys.
5. AUDIENCE RESEARCH My results show that the price which is most reasonable for a college magazine is £1.00, Followed shortly by £1.50, 50p and £2.00. By knowing how much to charge for a magazine and knowing which price is reasonable for a college magazine will help me decide on a final price by using these guidelines.
6. AUDIENCE RESEARCH The most frequent answer to this question was Music. Followed by reading, fashion and cinema. I think all of the options with a frequency of 3 or over should be included in my college magazine so its a good range of interests in one place, this would also attract alot of students. These are also options which are chosen by girls and boys, so its a fair to include all in my magazine.
7. AUDIENCE RESEARCH Overall, students wanted to see a section in the magazine that showed timetables for exam dates and assignment deadlines so they can keep up to date and organised with work they have to do. As well as being reminded by tutors, the magazine would also keep track of information they need to know.
8. AUDIENCE RESEARCH The majority of the audience who took part in the question are answered the Organised & Colourful option which was most popular. Alot of students also chose the Simple & Professional option so I think its a good idea to incorporate both.
9. AUDIENCE RESEARCH The most frequent answer for this question was yes but alot of the audience also answered against the question so I think I would still include a competition entry but not as frequent as I would have if there was a lower amount of answers against it.
10. AUDIENCE RESEARCH As the most frequent answer was yes for this question, sports results and updates should be added as there was more answers for the section to be added. Alot of the magazines content will cater for a wide range of students so they wont be put off purchasing.
11. AUDIENCE RESEARCH As alot of students voted yes for this question, club timetables and information will be a regular appearance in the college magazine. This will also enhance the number of people in clubs and make more people join and make new clubs in the college.
12. AUDIENCE RESEARCH The majority of the answers voted yes for general college achievements, such as overall results on results days to be shown in the magazine.
13. AUDIENCE RESEARCH Almost all of the students who answered this question voted yes for charity events to be involved in the college magazine. This will boost the amount of people taking part in charity events to make a difference.
14. AUDIENCE RESEARCH As the college is known for student performances by those who take a music course for example, by knowing who and when a student is performing is useful so students can cheer on who is performing and also have a chance for themselves to perform.
16. PRODUCT RESEARCH Front cover The masthead is shown in the Primary Optical Area. Its also part of a house style as the font used for this magazine is used throughout. The image on the front cover has been manipulated to look as though its on top of the masthead Some the cover lines are similar ones that are found in gossip magazines which would appeal to students. Although the colours change on the magazine depending on the image, they change so they work together with the masthead, image and cover line text colours. A barcode in the Terminal area makes a magazine look professional
17. PRODUCT RESEARCH Front cover The image of a girl used on the front cover of the magazine makes her look relaxed and friendly which would give a positive representation to the audience who look at the front cover. The clothing worn in the image links with the cover line and the nationality of the magazine. Red, white & blue are associated with America which is where the magazine is made. The T-shirt shown in the image also promotes a cover line shown on the front cover.
18. PRODUCT RESEARCH Front cover Each section of the magazine is split into thirds. The masthead appears in the first three thirds consistently as its part of the house style for the magazine. The cover lines appear in the second row of three thirds which is also part of the house style for the magazine. By organising a front cover using the rule of thirds, it gives a cover a more professional and organised look.
19. PRODUCT RESEARCH contents page Promotion for the magazine website. Main headline page numbers are clearly seen. Coverlines look professional and organised by using the rule of thirds. Images with captions for the main headlines to promote what's inside the magazine. Brief summaries of each story so the reader can see if it appeals to them or not straight away.
20. PLANNING Front cover Title, price & date Main headline, double page spread. Sub-headlines, brief explanations of headline. Bar-code Cropped Image Promotional banners The house style colours of my magazine shall be blue, purple, white and grey. These colours mix both stereotypical feminine and masculine colours so readers know its a magazine for both genders and will appeal to all.
21. PLANNING Contents page Images with captions & page numbers to show where in the magazine main headlines can be found. The images here will link with/ be the same as ones on the front cover. Sub-headlines are split into categories so they are easy to find. Page numbers are also easy to read. Title Spaces for promotion such as the magazine website and other features related outside of the magazine. The colours and images of the contents page shall follow on from the front cover so the magazine can be easily identified and pages don't look mixed up.
