6. Using, developing and challenging conventions
Title and colour schemes: The
magazine has a typical title
placement, the colour scheme
is ordinary as the colours are
mainly black and white (used
to make each other stand out)
There are a few other colours
that match the black and white.
Straplines: The strapline in this
magazine follows a different line to
the others as it overlaps the title
and does not stay in a straight line.
The strapline develops as it is in
different colours (white and red)
this is different to 2 of these
magazines.
Proportion: This magazine
changes the proportions of the
magazine and shows a long
shot of the band, in
comparison to the other
magazines in which the others
show the upper body of the
band member, this shows
nearly full body.
All Three: This magazine show
all three of title and
colour/straplines and proportion,
as the band member is showing
more than half the upper body
which changes proportion. As
well as the skyline is in white but
has hints of orange to max it out.
Finally the title is basic and the
colour scheme match really well
together.

21. Researching Main Task
Contents Page
There is a main
image that covers
most of the page
this gets the
readers attention.
The contents title is used like a
masthead but not as big, this
simply tells you what you are
looking at
There are pictures placed
everywhere over the page, this
make the page more interesting and
give a glimpse of what is in the
magazine. Each page is listed individually and
has description of each. This gives
the reader exact knowledge of what
there looking for in the magazine.
Each paragraph has a cover line to promote it,
They are in bold and then promote the reader to
read the mini articles that then direct them to the
the main articles in the magazine.
The colour scheme is black, yellow, and
white and these colours contrast and
complement each other to make the text
stand out more on the page. The black
and yellow are relatable and are
consistently used in other contents pages
for kerrang magazines
Page numbers are listed
on each are very important
for the reader to find the
article that they want to
read.
22. Researching Main Task
Double Page Spread
The double page spread contains a lot of the
information on one page while there is is a large
picture covering the other page. This is the main thing
the reader will see, this is good because the reader is
drawn straightaway to the main feature of the double
page.
Certain words in the double pages are coloured (red/
pink) this makes up the article and works well together,
As well as the colours correlate well with the person on
the over side of the page to make it more aesthetically
pleasing and more comfortable for the reader with
harmonising colours.
There are also large letters to start of the
articles. The letter “D” is used in both articles
to start. This shows that the double page is all
about the featured person.
As well as a pull quote is used as the title
from the article interview and is used make
the reader want to read more of the article.
Header to show the people who carry out the interview.
For the editorial copy, the two light colours have been
used. Against the dark background, it makes the text
stand out and easier for the readers to see. It also shows
how the article is interview based. The white/Red text
shows the interviewer’s, words while the black/white text
is the artists words.
