Unit 1 Understanding Mindset
This unit aims to provide learners with an understanding of how employability can be
affected by their mindset, focusing on the key qualities sought by employers.
The learner will:

1.1 : In clear sentences, state what mindset qualities are attractive to employers
Having a good approachable attitude, meaning that anyone can come to you for help or
advise if fellow employees are need of some assistance. Also, the ability to strive to get
the work done to the highest possible as can be achivied is good attribute to have
equipped whilst in a working environment.
1.2 : Identify the qualities you already have that are attractive to potential employers
I'm passionate about the work I try to portray, and I can devout myself to idea or vision
that wants to be seen though. I have good attendance; I am rarely off ill and that is a good
attribute to have as company employers like a member of staff that is always avidable
when you need them. Also, I have good time management skills I'malways never late on
the morning to arrive at places and being on time is important.

1.3 : Outline why honesty, commitment, flexibility and accountability are key qualities to
employers
Honesty is like trust, if your honest, around others around you then people will be more
willing to spend business with you. It also helps to keep everybody on the same page as
each other and to make sure, that nothing missing that needs to be finished.
Commitment is a valuable asset to any kind of company project or any visionary
assignment as even when things don’t go the way they are planned to go, it’s a good
back-up to know that someone won't just easily give up on something that your whole
team had been working on.
Flexibility is key to a lot of aspects to a job, when fellow employees might sometimes
need extra time that they have altered to you. So, you must change a few things around
again in order to make it work and be a success. Business who adapt survive, ones that
don’t, I left in the dust.
Accountability being responsible for yourself, your work, other people's work and fellow
employee's health and safety etc., are vital as following work rules and enforcements as
well as the governments law is penicicle to any kind of work environment.
1.4 : Give examples of when you have been honest, committed, flexible and accountable
When I was behind a little bit of media college work, I had to tell one of my lectures about
it as soon as possible as the files that I had become corrupt. (Unfortunately) He was fine
with it as I was honest about it and told him sooner rather than later because if I did tell
him later, I may have gotten him angry as he would have been misinformed this entire
time and portraying a false confidence in me.
One of my college promo videos was still not turning out to be the way I want to be. Most
of my other colleagues that I worked with had moved on and where just satisfied by a
mediocre looking final project. But I wasn’t, I stuck in and made it the best that it could
be. Regardless of how small the video was or how big it was, I committed myself to that
project and it gladly paid off.

1.5 : Outline how mindset qualities could affect your employability
If you come with a mindset say your slouching on the chair and mumbling your word in
the interview you are not going to get the job, really are you? Since the first impression of
you from the employer is very important. If you go in however with a bright, positive
attitude and are looking interested in being there, then the employer will get a very good
first impression and might write down something like, “he was good, let's consider him
other the guy” etc.
1.6 : Identify actions to improve your own mindset qualities
Eating a good, well-balanced healthy diet, going to bed at a sensible time so apon working
up you feel refreshed and positive and ready to go.
Dedicate the same devotion that you try with a hobbies e.g like practicing an instrument
can be replicated in the same way as getting familiar with companies surroundings,
practicing on new programs that you haven't used before, a good mind set of practice is a
good mindset to have for life and work.
Unit 7: Managing your time
This unit introduces learners to timekeeping as well as time management. It covers
developing a sense of responsibility and control when it comes to time, how to work with
appropriate people (eg supervisor) to identify priorities, how to identify when support might
be needed and who to ask.

The unit will look at why punctuality, reliability and the need for preparation are important
in the workplace.

Using the companies equipment to your advantage like computers and such that you
don’t have at home, meaning most of the work that you have been assigned to do has
already been done at the work place any way and you don’t have to worry about it

anymore. Also, lunch times in workplaces can be used to finish off little pieces of leftover
work that needs completing, so it's done before the afternoon session begins.
1.2 Review your own time management and identify areas where
you could improve
I do have some trouble now and again to discipline myself to not indulge too much into
my hobbies and ignore the other important things around me e.g. like work that I need to
do. I love my hobbies a lot and sometimes a little too much way they do become a little
distracting sometimes.
1.3 Plan your own work activity, with appropriate support from others
Way back in September just as the course was really starting our intimal task was to make
a college promo video with a couple more of my fellow colleagues. We were given the
basics of how to use the camera equipment was a huge learning experience for us, as
afterwards we all decided to get good and familiar with equipment that was around us
and practiced using it too.
1.4 Carry out a work activity within planned timescale
When we were behind with some of my lecturers old work, we had to catch up because
we were slightly behind, however we managed to get it done in the time scale which was
set for us.

When someone might offer something radically new. The difference between certain new
ideas of other people can stop the work from flowing smoothly.
Some persons assignment may not be totally finished yet and they are behind everyone
else that can be problem as fellow work colluges will want to move on to the next piece of
work but they can’t because they have to wait for you to catch up.
2.2 Identify where you can access support when you run into difficulties with time
management
The Sunderland college Moodle site is full of plenty tutorial units and excises for you to
practice on, also I can always e-mail my lecturers or talk to them in person if, whenever I
am in need of some help or guidance.

Being punctual is very important as arriving on time allows for smooth attendance and
workflow, also it gives out the impression to your own employers that you can be reliable
and have good time management skills and accountability.
