This document discusses potential filming locations for an indie music video at High Vinnalls, a large quiet area. Photos of the location show areas that could be used for narrative scenes like performers camping or messing around by a pond, as well as a secluded spot for the musical performance surrounded by trees. Shots of the journey from the car to the campsite are also proposed to document the process. The location provides redundant features for the indie genre and targets its audience.
2. As a group we felt that this place would be a good redundant
option rather than the beach. As camping is a popular hobby for
the indie genre, we felt that this storyline would appeal to our
target audience.
High Vinnalls is a very large location, which is one of the reasons
why we had chosen this place. We felt that we could go around
the location and change them slightly so that the music video
wouldn't look so repetitive and boring. As this place is quite large
and quiet, we wont be disturbed or disturb the public which is
important as we don't want the focus to be on the public rather
than the actors and performers within our music video.
Here are a selected group of images which we have taken as a
group for potential areas in which we will film our music video.
We visited this area to take photographs, jus to make sure that it
would be realistic. I will present each and go into more detail
about what the type of locations can be used for.
3. These are a collection of photographs
which we have taken as we thought
this would be a good place to fit in
with our Indie Genre. The first
photograph shows the whole of the
area whereas the second shows more
of a close up which helps us to
establish the variety of shots which
we could shoot. Because It is a sunny
day, it would be easy to edit and to
put a filter on the scene as we showed
in our Pitch.
We thought that this area would be
used for the performers to mess
around as it is quite a scenic place.
For example, as there is a pond in
front, the boy performers could
pretend to push the girls into the
pond. This is a common feature which
this target audience do themselves so
they can instantly relate to the scène.
This would make it a redundant
feature as it is expected in an Indie
Genre.
Overall, these photographs will be
used for the Narrative part of our
music video.
4. These are a couple of photographs where the potential Narrative scenes will
take place. These are a collection of photographs of where the performers could
set up their camp as this is where the majority of scenes for the music video will
take place. The two photographs on the left and the right are quite open which
may not be good as the public can easily walk by and we may accidently have
them walking in the shot. We think that as a group the middle photograph would
be more appropriate as It is in the woods which would match more with the
Indie target audience and genre. It makes the scene look more as if they are in
the middle of nowhere which relates to more of the camping/Narrative side.
These photographs also show a redundant feature with the Indie Genre because
of the chosen location and how this audience commonly visit the woods to camp.
However, relating to Goodwin’s theory, the lyrics wont necessarily relate to the
visuals as the song is about worries, but we as a group are trying to do the
opposite and showing through the performers that there should be no worries
with this type of audience.
5. These photographs are quite bold and nice
views which would instantly relate to the
Indie Genre. We chose these photographs as
we thought they would be good for the
performance part of our music video. We felt
that the top photo is quite enclosed which
therefore would be perfect to shoot the
performance as no members of the public
will walk past and because of the shadows of
he trees, I creates quite a vintage feel which
is what our Indie audience like.
The next photograph is quite open which may
take away from the performers singing as the
audience will be looking more at the view
behind rather than concentrating on them.
With these two photographs, you can see that
they are quite entropic as usually as I have
found out form my research , the
performance part in the Indie Genre is played
in a studio. However, in many of Indie music
videos, there are many entropic features as
they are trying to be unique. This is our way
of being unique by filming in the same
location as the Narrative so that they blend
in.
6. These images were taken as we
thought that we could document the
journey from the car to the campsite.
As I am the one who is filming the
music video, and there is a lot of
space to do all kinds of camera
angles, I will be able to show a
variety of angles to show them
walking to and from the campsite.
These location areas will be used for
the Narrative part to show what they
do until they get to the camping part.
There are quite a lot of trees
surrounding the area, which creates
shadows so it wont effect the camera
lighting as the sun wont be in the way
of filming. Or we may have to choose
a less sunny day so that we could put
an Indie type filer as an effect and it
won’t be too light.
This would also be a redundant
feature to film in the woods as this
audience are known for visiting this
type of location frequently.
