2. Planning Stage
Research – all of us took part
Storyboarding – all of us took part
Creating the video – editing done by Hugo Jones, filming done by me, and
acting done by Anthony Allan-Cardoso and Finlay Bond
3. What has improved?
Editing – when I made the preliminary task with the different group I didn’t
know how to edit the footage, so I didn’t join in with the process of that. But in
my thriller opening with the group I’ve just worked in, I’ve learnt how to edit
and put together filmed footage on Final Cut Express.
Planning – when I was joining in with the preliminary task I didn’t join in as
much as I did whilst planning the opening thriller scene. I made the storyboard,
the shot list and the deadline list of dates and times to accomplish filming
different scenes and soundtrack.
Camera – when filming the preliminary task we used a tripod for everything
because we were using basic shots such as over-the-shoulder shot. But when we
filmed the thriller opening, we used small handheld cameras sometimes
because we used more advanced shots such as tracking shots.
4. Do I now feel more confident with equipment?
Yes, because now I have learnt how to use Final Cut Express, putting bits
of the filmed footage together, and adding effects.
5. How successful the project was
Our thriller main character was not stereotypical because the main character
was a female and she was a bad person. This creates confusion in the audience
because they wouldn’t usually think of a female character that way.
At the beginning of our thriller opening, the female character is crying, which
creates suspense for the audience because they have no idea why. The camera
really emphasises the fact that she’s crying which may worry the audience whilst
the suspense is happening. Suspense is the main feeling that happens in thriller
films.
Throughout the thriller, the audience sees flashbacks of what happened to her,
revealing why she’s crying. As she’s sinned, the audience are against her, but in
the envy scene may feel sorry for her, which creates mixed feelings, which may
have a sense of wonder. Wonder is one of the feelings felt in the audience
towards a thriller film.
