2. Pacing
The pacing between each of the cuts, at the point of the death scene in The
Descent. In the opening to the scene the pacing is very slow and composed as the
viewer needs to understand what is happening as well as getting to know the roles
of each of the characters. Not as many shots are used compared to the second half
of the scene, time between this frame and the next frame in the scene is four
seconds to witch to the next frame.
3. At the end of the scene were the death of Sarah's daughter is shown Jessica.
The pacing nearing the end, when the accident takes place they have no idea
what's going on the crash is a complete shock. Leading up to the car crash
accident when the car is first scene within the frame the pacing is at this
point still slow, when the collision happens fast editing starts fast editing is
more often used between each shot to make the pacing of the camera shots
more faster. Overall the death scene is a length of three seconds, the
director would of wanted his scene to be short and fast exactly how
accidents happen with little time to react.
4. Transitions-Jump cutting
At the start of The Descent the transition between, these two camera
shots, jump cutting is used as the switch from one location to another
is shown.
5. In the death scene, the effect moving between cuts that is used is fade to black.
A reason why this was used in editing is to basically say to the viewer that, the
scene will end and will begin in a different area.

6. CGI (Computer generated images)
At the part were the death of Sarah’s husband is shown the pole smashing through
the glass of the car window is a computer generated image. This has been used as it
would have been dangerous for the actor to be close up to glass. Computer generated
images can be highly generated and look near realistic when used in film, they are used to
create things what can not be made or done for specific reasons.
