2. Pacing part 1
The pacing of the scene when Sarah is talking to
Jessica and Paul is about 5 seconds a shot. From this
we see their strong relationships. The pace also gives
the scene a sense of being very calm and tense,
knowing also that this is a horror movie you’re
expecting something to happening.
3. Slow cut editing
This is point of view shot
of the daughter as she
looks on to see the
incoming van. The scene
is again very slow with
only the cars that are
moving. This slow cut
editing lets you focus
more on what's going on
in the scene between
the family in the car.
4. Pacing Part 2
The pacing during the
second half of the scene
changes drastically. As it
becomes much faster as
a result of the crash
each shot last about 3
seconds. This creates a
realistic feel to the car
crash as everything
would naturally happen
so fast in that situation.
5. CGI
This scene uses CGI in the form of poles being
projected through the wind shield. CGI was
used as it was not possible to project poles
through a window without putting the actors
in danger.
Computer-generated imagery (CGI) is the
application of computer graphics to create or
contribute to images in art, printed media,
video games, films, television programs,
commercials, videos, and simulators.
6. Transitions
Transitions are used to indicate the end of a scene or the start of
one. In this scene however it is used most notably at the end
when the camera is zoom out from the car crash. This has a great
fade out effect suggesting that this scene has come to a rather
tragic end.
