1. Luke Adams Unit 10 Short Film Production
Proposal
I am Luke Adams and this is my idea for a short horror film. The film is called
followed and will be 2-3 minutes long. The film is in the horror genre and has two
characters the victim and the attacker.
Story line/ Plot synopsis:
My film is in the horror genre. Someone is walking down an alley way / corridor as
they enter the alley they start walking down they see suspicious shadows and are
sure they are being followed. The follower is revealed to the audience but doesn’t
appear to be getting closer and then suddenly attacks.
Core Audience:
The core audience of my film would be people who are fans of short films and short
films that fall into the horror genre. It also may appeal to people that like films with a
sense of mystery such as smiling man.

Technical Aspects
Cinematography – I will use a mixture of mid shots of the victim of the assault and
their POV shots as they become worried and try to escape. I will use a mixture of
tripod shots for the mid shots and handheld cinematography as they move along. I
will frame shots on feet and legs walking to keep from the audience whether this is
just the victim or whether we are also looking at the attacker.
Editing – I will edit simply between the different shots, paying attention to the 180
degree rule by deliberately confusing where the action is happening – I want the
audience to be unsure until the reveal whether we are watching the victim or the
attacker. There will be some shot/reverse/shot editing
Sound – as well as the ambient noise of the night I will use a simple tense non-
diagetic score of falling off key high notes to suggest that all is not well. I will make
the score using GarageBand. There is no dialogue in the piece. The sound will
contribute to the idea that this is a matter of fact occurrence, it doesn’t some to a
peak or suddenly resolve.

Lighting – I am lighting for illumination more than trying to create lighting effects –
most of the time the point of the scene is that it is night and not very bright. I will
carefully light the final ‘reveal’ scene of the killer’s masked face to call more attention
to it.
Location Planning – The mise en scene is a simple urban street setting, at night, with
nobody else around. There is a good location to use that is easily accessible to me.
