2. Pace
During the beginning, during the driving it has a slow pace following the
dialogue. Each cut during this part is to follow the dialogue. The reason this is
used is because it builds a lot of suspense. This part of the scene lasts 29
seconds and uses 8 different shots. This is very different to when the crash
occurs as 5 shots are used in 5 seconds. They could of done the crash in one
shot but they chose to do lots of different shots because it makes it feel like
lots of things are happening at one time and it makes you feel involved in the
crash.

4. Pace
The second part of the scene involves a car crash. Because the scene starts
slow the suspense has been built to lead to this. When the crash occurs it is
very quick as it lasts around 5 seconds and includes 5 shots which is a very
stark contrast to the first half of the scene because they are trying to cause a
jump scare. They use the fast editing to put the audience into every aspect of
the crash to make them feel involved.

6. Pace
After the crash has occurred, it returns to the slow pace at the beginning. The
reason for this is because there is no more action occurring and it wants the
audience to take in what has just happened.
7. Effects
During the beginning no effects are used, they are implemented when the
crash occurs. The first effect are the poles that break the cars window. The
shots inside the vehicle are used using CGI and this can be seen once you
slow down the scene as the pole becomes invisible and doesn’t break the
window initially. For the scene when the husband is killed a dummy would be
used. Because of the fast pace of the scene you wouldn’t be able to tell that it
is CGI.
8. Effects
After the crash, because the editors felt that it may not be gory enough they
decided to add a puddle of blood dripping from the car using CGI. This is CGI
as in real life it wouldn’t work like that.
9. Transitions
The only transition used is the fade to black at the end of the scene. This is
used to show the audience there will be a jump in time between the end of
this scene and the start of the next.
