 Pioneered a laser vision correction program at Naval Hospital, Camp Pendleton, as well as establishing a cost
sharing program with Naval Regional Medical Center, San Diego. Results: in over 2000 procedures performed each
year which significantly reduced eye care costs to Department of Defense
 Created Quality Improvement Program for medical department personnel. Established online record keeping and
tracking system at Expeditionary Force. Results: Increased medical and dental readiness beyond 95% among
23,000 service members - highest ever attained.
 Chartered a stress management program. Successfully integrated Commanders, Chaplains, Psychiatrists, Doctors
and 1st line supervisors for the first time. Result: Established better suicide intervention and preventative measures;
reduced suicide rates among active duty personnel

 Initiated and Developed Orientation Program for Expeditionary Force Medical Officers. Managed, mentored and
educated doctors to the structure, doctrine and know-how of the force. Results: Improved force protection and
prepared 48 freshmen doctors to the rigors of duty with the Marine Corps
 Developed and presented a Memorandum of Understanding between the Naval Hospital which restructured and
integrated medical resources eliminating redundantservices. Results: Increased availability of medical appointments
to over 23,000 patients; saved $4000 on a monthly basis
 Led and launched study of patient access. Results: a streamlined screening process provided more patient
appointments and after hours clinic: Increased productivity of the Ophthalmology an average of 49%
 Led one of the most successful large-scale humanitarian medical and dental care in Thailand. Procured donated
supplies; coordinated military and civilian care. Results: Treated, prescribed medications and delivered eye to over
6400 patients, the most successful exercise to date.
 Managed $13M of medical supplies and equipment for Expeditionary Force using electronic tracking. Results:
Equipment shelf life were maintained, identified and replaced prior to expiration, saving the go vernment several
million dollars
 Developed and managed a mentoring program for Naval Officers assigned to Naval Hospital, Okinawa. Developed
program to identify and match officers with appropriate mentor. Results: Program accepted and implemented by the
Executive Steering Committee without changes, enabling medical officers to obtain personal mentoring; increased
retention, morale and promotion rates.
 Overhauled policies and procedures while serving as Ophthalmology Department, fostering a “people first” policy.
Results: Outperformed both military and civilian benchmarks in all areas of patient satisfaction; increasing patient
satisfaction
